I’ve been following McFabulous since the early days, though rarely actually bet him. Last run was bitterly disappointing, and I’d be surprised if that’s a true ceiling on his capabilities. I’m still a big fan, though I’m hoping his future is over fences, and I see him as possible King George horse in time. He’s short enough for me though, and I’ll reluctantly desert him here.
The one I’ll back early is Jason The Militant. Not sure what the future holds for him, but I’m hoping that it isn’t over fences, as I see him as a possible for The Stayers Hurdle next year, and I’ve asked for a price regarding that. As for the price here, I’m happy enough with 6’s, but just holding off to see what else is offered. If he runs here, I think he’ll go off shorter, so I’m on the verge of betting him early anyway.
What’s stopping me from betting him early is the price on Buveur D’Air. I’m sure he’s better than we seen at Haydock, and with that run under his belt, he looks way overpriced at 15-2.
Jason The Militant the main fancy though.
Buveur D’Air 15-2
Jason The Militant 6’sApril 2, 2021 at 19:37 #1534078Mcfabulous for me all day long
He absolutely hated the track at Fontwell last time to my eye
Aintree should suit much better and with a small boost the 7/2 on offer is something im very happy to take
April 2, 2021 at 20:09 #1534083Surprised Mcfabulous isn’t going for the Liverpool Hurdle. Think this will be plenty sharp enough for him. 12’s looks an insult for the Christmas Hurdle winner, would be half this price if trained by Henderson. Silver Streak e/w would be my pick for this.

April 3, 2021 at 12:19 #1534197McFabulous for lunch me at 7-2, I think that either race for him round here would have suited. It’s a short Antepost Price, but I’m quite confident about him.
April 4, 2021 at 18:12 #1534440That Not So Sleepy is a right character, but also very good on his day. He’s my selection here 20/1 ew
April 6, 2021 at 14:45 #1534683Completely missed the 6’s on Jason The Militant, and also the 7’s this morning. Managed to nab 11-2 though, and happy with that. As mentioned, wanted to bet for him next years Stayers Hurdle, but nobody biting.
I still like Buveur D’Air, but not decided, and I’m starting to veer towards Ballyandy EW at 25’s. I’ll probably go with him, as that’s just too big.
Jason The Militant 11-2
April 6, 2021 at 14:58 #1534689Don’t wish to dent your enthusiasm for the race but honestly this year looks a shadow of previous years.
But in saying that have to acknowledge it’s been in decline for a while now and for me no longer worthy of Grade 1 status
good luck to allApril 6, 2021 at 15:08 #1534694Not surprising really. Fairhouse, Punchestown. The Irish rule the roost, and they couldn’t care less about the Aintree Hurdle. Which is a massive shame, and needs rectifying one way or another.

April 6, 2021 at 15:55 #1534705It looks like there will be plenty of toe on here with Silver Streak, Jason The Militant, Not So Sleepy all generally keen to crack on. It should be fascinating to watch. I can see McFabulous getting outpaced and having to use up plenty of petrol just getting on terms. It looks set up perfectly for the strong travelling Abacadabras. His jumping just needs to be a little slicker. That was his first fall in the Champion Hurdle and it could just sharpen him up at his obstacles. An easy 2m4 on decent ground with a fast pace to aim at… If he doesn’t win here, I won’t be backing him again that’s for sure!

April 6, 2021 at 17:54 #1534723I like Abacadabras as well but (as pointed out elsewhere) the stable form has to be a concern.
Not sure it is fair to say the Irish trainers do not care about the Aintree Hurdle. They have won 3 of the last 5 renewals!
April 6, 2021 at 18:43 #1534732I personally wouldn’t be too concerned about Sneezy. Cullentra would have been clear top trainer at Cheltenham had they not lost the Cheveley horses. They didn’t send a particularly strong squad to Fairyhouse and she still nearly had the big one.

April 6, 2021 at 19:12 #1534735Having only got 20/1 ap, I’ve bet some more on Not So Sleepy at 33/1 ew. I just have to hope now for a going day
April 6, 2021 at 20:26 #1534751McFabulous for me here at a very short 10-3. I think that’s short enough for me not to have a bet, but I think that he’s the winner.
April 8, 2021 at 02:09 #1534880Song for Someone and Buveur d’air both 10s ew 4 places for me.
I’m putting a line through Buveur’s last run- the trainer always says he is a fatso who comes on for the first run, and also he was unable to train much before it- I think he doesn’t train on sand at all now (presumably to stop grit getting up into the white line of his dodgy foot) and it took a while for the grass gallops to be usable.
Brewinupastorm could have a decent chance with the stable coming into form, but can’t bet em all.
April 8, 2021 at 05:12 #1534883Not convinced Abacadabras wants the step up in distance. Backed Jason the Militant with an each way saver on Brewin’upsastorm. He looks a different horse switched back to hurdles.
April 8, 2021 at 05:22 #1534885Delighted with 16’s for Silver Streak. Comfortably top rated in this. Others are obviously less exposed, but I’m still pleasantly delighted withn 16’s for a horse rated 5lb higher than anything else in the field. Had a decent bet e/w.

April 8, 2021 at 06:44 #1534888Abracadbras is the bet for me , the only concern is his hurdling but he,ll have more time over this trip , e.w value looks like buveur d,air esp as he,s been kept for it
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
