Really gutted Grandouet was brought down. Would have won in my opinion. I think I will keep following this one.

So pleased for baby run and willie, he gave him a fantastic ride was really cheering them on!

and Big Bucks what can you say? A machine.

Looking forward to 2moro now, Paul Carberry has good chances on Perfect Smile & Dev and its gotta be Albertas run again with the good ground and sun on his back.

    Good luck all!

My thoughts on some of today’s races at Aintree:

Zarkander ( which I backed ) wouldn’t have won had Grandouet not been brought down.

Big Buck’s was simply breathtaking. No wonder Paul Nicholls said after the race that he is the best horse he has ever trained.

Clare Balding said she felt sorry for the person who put £50,000 on Denman. I don’t. If he has more money than sense then he deserves all he gets. Denman was the lay of the day in my book.

Master Twiston-Davies gave Baby Run a text book ride and it was heart warming to see the young chap smiling after his misfortune at Cheltenham.

Yeah lets all slag Denman off AGAIN – funny how after Cheltenham everybody loved him, now hes the pits again. How fickle we are! Nacarat deserved to win, he ran a brilliant race and proved his doubters wrong, and Baby Run was amazing too. Today wasnt Denmans day, but there will be other days – and he will make them his, just like hes done many times before.

Baby Run winning was one of the loudest roars I have ever heard not associated with the Grand National at Aintree.

Hope Zarkandar absolutely bolts up, had a treble at chelts with Zarkandar, Bobs Worth and Baby Run and Baby Run messed it up, I think Carlito Brigante could cause a big surprise to Big Bucks, its the time again when we get Jim Mcgrath with his dodgy calls of fallers or horses in general.

I thought Zarkander could not lose. It was an example of being wrong but getting the right result!

I thought Denman was a shocking bet and went for Punchestown. I was right in the first bit but went for the wrong opponent.

Superb first days racing and thankfully Russian War decided to put his best hoof forward, excellent patient ride from Paul Carberry.

Like the look of the following today:

    200:

230: Too hard to call but Master of the Hall could be the one.
305: Race to watch and savour.
    340:

    415: Sparky May

is the NAP of the day for me.

Those writing off Punchestowns may have missed the report that he was found to be lame after the race when examined by the racecourse vet.

Let’s hope a summer off can see him back to his best next season.

    From racing post site…

JOCKEY Peter Toole is understood to be in critical condition in hospital following a fall at Aintree on Grand National Saturday.

Toole suffered a heavy fall when his mount, outsider Classic Fly, fell early in the John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase.

Charlie Mann, to whom Toole is attached as a conditional jockey, wrote onhis Twitter account at around 7pm on Saturday: "Peter Toole being kept under sedation in hospital [with] possible head injuries."

Toole was taken to the nearby Fazakerley Hospital and was subsequently transferred to the neighbouring Walton Centre Centre For Neurology & Neuro Surgery, where he was being treated on Saturday night.

Very, very worrying news. I hope he comes out well
