I can understand people celebrating big-priced winners but I would be inclined to treat the form of both novice races with some degree of caution as there was no early pace in either race. I am sure that contributed to Weapons Amnesty’s relatively poor performance.
Weapons Amnesty was very badly hampered by the fall of On Raglan Road just when the race was starting to develop.
April 3, 2009 at 23:26 #220078Aintree is a great meeting dont get me wrong – the only thing I dont like is that some quality horses run disappointing races just because they are over the top after cheltenham. There were some very good horses today that just didnt run their races – some horses can take a lot of racing and some just seem to take longer to recover – kind of makes the gold cup and national double more elusive given the test of stamina (I still watch the garrison savanah race and hope he gets hope

I take that on board but given the slow pace he had already pulled too hard and was a little further back than he should have been. Even without being hampered I doubt he would have been much better than fourth.
