Some will say Democracy… I think it was Gladders who put that one up for the Coventry and all the lemmings followed suit after a promising debut. BUT no its not him, he won a race

    Aidan’s Best Worst Horse is
    ..
    ..
    Alabama
When asked for a 2 y/o to follow Aidan named Alabama as one of his best for the year.

    0/5 later ..

    beaten 3 times as favourite
    4th when 8/15 fav

I can forgive Aidan for putting this one up. I take it he peaked on the gallops possibly sprinted past Little Big Bear on his guineas prep or something but being by No Nay Never they can peak at any time, once peaked it a fast downhill slope… View Democracy. Maybe that happened to Alabama or maybe Aidan is a genius trainer but average judge of a racehorse

Has Aidan ever had a better or worse best worst horse.??

If Gladders is prepared to undertake to cook me one of his continental cheese omlettes, I will testify that Nathan, not Gladders, put up Democracy.

But if Gladders still refuses, I’d like to join my very good friend Nathan on this.

Nothing personal – I’m all about the cheese omelette, that’s all.

    Three things:

    1. Does it have to be a maiden? Otherwise, I’d nominate the ill-fated Santa Barbara. We all know AOB is full of the marketing spiel when it comes to colts, but this filly was hyped to the high heavens and turned out to be as good as her soap opera namesake.

    2. Can any sportsperson really be a “genius”? Aren’t they just very good at what they do?

    3. I’m more likely to send one of my omelettes to Democracy than to Chezza.

How about Waterville? Talked up by O’Brien as a Derby contender before he had even raced.

His two wins to date are a 2 mile handicap at Limerick and the Irish Cesarewitch off bottom weight.

He has not been seen since finishing last in the Stayers race on Ascot Champions Day.

    Two things:

    1. Waterville did have the distinction of being one of the 27 colts Mike ritually backs ante-post then cashes out for The Derby (and every other major ante-post race) each year.

No one can ever take that honour away from him!

    2. I would never actually wish any horse any harm, so I won’t say I hope Democracy chokes on that omelette!

No rules to having a best worst horse Gladders
No such thing as a sporting genius but it has to be posted every other time when Aidan is the subject. He’s quite unique in that regard.. :rose:

Santa Barbara and Waterville both good shouts

Just need my 24 fold Cheltenham Acca to come in and he’s off to Aidan’s to get some praise

    Honourable mentions to:

High Definition. Won both starts at 2 (including a Group 2) and was favourite for the Derby. Failed to win in 13 subsequent starts on the Flat. His only victory since his juvenile season was in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown. He has not won over hurdles since either.

Wordsworth. Won a Curragh maiden and was supported for the Derby and St Leger – including by me for the latter! His only subsequent win was scrambling home at odds of 4/11 at Gowran Park in his first 4yo start. Sold out of O’Brien’s yard, his most recent effort was when he was beaten as 6/4 favourite in a novice hurdle at Ballinrobe.

I notice Wordsworth is now in training with David Pipe. Next stop Newton Abbot?

Santa Barbara. As Gladiateur said “hyped to the heavens”. Unbeatable up the gallops bla bla bla.

Turned out, she was as exciting as a bowl of porridge.

Is O’Brien trying to break his record for saying “Listen” on RTV now?

Hislop should say “Listen, I am listening.”
Did I hear Aidan right in saying that Paddington was only a baby 3 year old?
That abnormal improvement could continue once he matures..

Hislop would be more likely to say “Let’s listen to the lads, shall we?”

I reckon Aidan has Tourette syndrome but has been treated by a hypnotherapist to say “listen” instead of swearing

I reckon Aidan actually does know the meaning of the words “incredible” and “unbelievable” and is using them literally when he describes how fab the latest stallion prospect is.
