Ruby is not in love with us punters, it’s clear, he wouldn’t budge an inch when McCririck tried to argue that gambling was crucial in keeping racing alive.

January 20, 2013 at 19:19 #426996Horse racing has always been the "2 dollar" man’s sport. The expenses surrounding racing have always been born by the owners. They are who keep it alive not the "punters" who wage hundreds of dollars.Racing is for small gamblers and they will bet where they get the best odds.Racing is for owners who can afford to race their horses. Not for gamblers who use it to feed their obsession.Casino’s thrive because they are the owners. They cannot own racing because nobody would trust them to take their cut from the sport. The bookmakers are what is destroying racing. No honesty about anything they are connected with.Look at the corruption around SP for instance. If one wins too much you have to go to court to get paid!
