Don’t think suspended.
Maybe didn’t want to come over for just one ride?
December 2, 2008 at 04:20 #193680ATR mentioned Barry’s absence due to the fact that he now has his ‘weekend off’ on Mondays and Tuesdays in order to spend quality time with family.
December 12, 2008 at 09:59 #196338On hurdles rating Afsoun is a justified 4/9 shot at Fakenham. But it seems everyone in the ring at Fakenham and in the shops around the country have decided to completely ignore the terribly unimpressive chasing debut at Warwick.
Surely Afsoun has to be a fantastic lay at 4/9, as Kings Quay was not slouch over hurdles, and would only have to make a satisfactory chasing debut to eclipse Afsoun’s Warwick performance. Day in day out through the NH season we see how hard it is to shoulder a penalty in novice company even when your penalty was gained with an impressive display (Kicks For Free a recent example), so thow in the penalty as well, plus Marcu Foley replacing Geraghty (hardly a progressive step) and this has all the makings of a "boil over".
I missed this post FF Excellent call. Over and above what you said
Mick Fitzgerald pointed out that Afsoun is not a natural jumper . He said he hoped Nicky could imrove his jumping and that was enough to make me think he was one dodgy bet and like you I opposed him….not sure which would have won had he stood up but only the result counts at the end of the day.But beware Nicky Henderson and his staff are brilliant at teaching these novices the ropes.
I fancy Afsoun will be a better horse for the fall and Nicky will have him jumping for fun by the next time he runs….
