Looks interesting. Tight result and Fallon had the whip in the wrong hand. A Royal farce for the Queen? Willie says it’s impossible but I’ve seen this sort of finish reversed before.

Was sure Hughes had held on till I saw the freeze.

    Tremendous race.

Irrespective of what was going on up front did anyone notice that Spencer would actually have won the race had he have made sufficient effort earlier instead of poncing about too far back on the bridle.

I generally like the British rules of winner on merit keeps the race and that is fine if the winning margin is a reasonable distance but quite how the stewards can say with certainty that Afsare (who I backed by the way) did not cause Quadrille to lose the couple inches needed for a different result is a mystery to me. If there is any doubt then surely the victim of the interference should be given the benefit of it?

Quite the opposite, and rightly so imo.

I would have disqualified the winner and placed him behind the horse who was cut up on the rail as a result of the interference. The rules of British racing are practically an endorsement for severe interference, regardless of whether any jockey is at fault.
