As Starmer’s unlikely to call an election anytime soon speculating who may replace him would be a fruitless exercise.
Today it was announced doctors have voted to strike ……. less than a year ago they were given 22% and now they are back for more.
I believe they are asking for 20% plus …. the Government has a offer on the table of 4% I seem to recall.
If by some chance the doctors accept the 4% deal,I would say well done but I’m not holding my breath.However a deal does need to come with productivity improvements.

Although I was fully behind the doctors last year I’m pretty annoyed with them now. I don’t think they’ll find much support this time round. I don’t’t know about hospital doctors but when I worked for a GP surgery the doctors did less and less eg they no longer had to be on call at night; locums were used. I had to get extra strong coffee on the go to get any doctor through the morning who had been on call the night before. I’m struggling to get a face to face consultation with a GP even though I’ve become almost housebound with my dodgy knees.

The government didn’t cave in with the doctors last year. Just behaved honourably towards them.

It’s sad that some people are more concerned about the 0% chance of this country becoming Muslim than the 100% certainty of it being asset-stripped if Reform get in.
I’m not sure how many assets are left to be stripped now, most of the family jewels have gone. NHS, I suppose, is a major one and maybe even the armed forces?

Another thing that has a far greater than zero chance if happening is continuing climate breakdown but nobody gives a damn about that either. It literally happens in front of people’s eyes and they still deny it.
I don’t think it’s a case of people denying climate change, in this country at least, Richard, but rather that they don’t want to make the necessary changes.

Of course what will happen is that, globally speaking, the lowest lying areas will get flooded and the hottest areas will become uninhabitable, wonder where everyone thinks all those people will go?
