Richard would you prefer you kids to have a pint or a line of coke? Easy for me as I have not drunk for 25+ years but we do have problem drinkers Trevor Smith ex boxer and a dear friend fought likes of Kirkland Lang sadly passed two years ago through drink,at times we thought we had beat with him it but sadly he passed :negative:

If kids want to do legal (for adults) things like drink and smoke or take illegal drugs, they will.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Sadly legal and safe are not the same thing. Some currently illegal substances in small doses aren’t going to do you much harm just as alcohol doesn’t.

Yeah, I know what you meant – was just messing around.

As Richard points out, kids have always done things they shouldn’t – hands up anyone here who didn’t try drinking, smoking or shagging before the legal age.

But legalising drugs does not mean that children are going to have carte blanche to get stoned, the way you’re twisting it.

Are you equally concerned about kids drinking, smoking and shagging?

If it was a choice of a pint or a line of coke I know which one I would want them to have and I would advise them against smoking as I lost my mum when I was 15;due to smoking

I don’t really think about the other option to be honest

True words Richard88; all other drugs pale by comparison with alcohol; redd a stat some years ago (so i don’t have the reference), that 1 in 6 people in UK and Ireland were miserable due to alcohol, either themselves or a family member.

Alcohol is a depressive , I stopped bothering with alcohol in my late 20s , luckily I never was that bothered by it in the first place

Another example of this incarnation of the Labour Party getting things monumentally wrong:

Gimmicks like this aren’t the solution; a long-term strategy is what’s needed.

    Another reactive appeasement attempt, pathetic.

I think the Greens are ruffling feathers left and right. I see the Mail has run a ludicrous fearmongering hit piece on them today’s front page.

Fearmongering is all the right has left. Their policies have been proven to be a failure since Thatcher came in – it’s 45 years of Tory and Tory Lite governments that have left the country as it is now.

Unfortunately, it appears that you just have to repackage the same old failed policies (this time under the Reform label) and people will fall for it. Don’t forget that these are the people who brought you austerity, Brexit, Johnson, Truss and privatisation (aka blatant profiteering and the transfer of public funds to private pockets).

Yet the masses will still fall for it because they’re too stupid/brainwashed/both to realise it isn’t all down to immigrants.

Gladiateur, i could have written your post myself. I agree with your every word. Unfortunately Reform is further right than even right wing Conservatives. They have said they will spend £2 billion on setting up an ICE type agency They will also abolish the Equalities Act so non-whites and women will become second class citizens. Farage will become King Trump and Truss will become Chancellor. The UK will collapse and yes, as you say, immigrants will be blamed. Exactly like Hitler’s Germany. Will our voters wake up in time?

The majority of people do not want a Reform government. The problem is that the non-RWNJ vote is so fragmented (Labour, Lib Dem, Greens, SNP, Plaid, etc) that there will always be the possibility that Farage gets in through the back door.

The only way to ensure we do not end up with an extremist right wing government is to do away with First Past The Post, but Labour under Starmer are too stupid/delusional to do so.

Starmer said, before the 2024 General Election, that the country comes first and the party second. In that case, FPTP has to be abolished.
