Tanya pronouncing the horse in the first at Ascot (Semeen) as Semen
May 13, 2014 at 13:45 #478924Still its good to have some terrestrial coverage ….even if its poor…its better than none
For whom?
May 14, 2014 at 14:17 #479021Maarek was Declan McDonogh’s first Group 1 winner? Not sure about that Mick!

Yessss Tanya had some proper market movers today (as she has done recently, to be fair).
May 15, 2014 at 13:34 #479109Chester has been an improvement purely because they appear to be getting closer to how it was before the ‘improvements’. The booth seems to be slowly disappearing. Presumably, someone has finally realised Racing is an outdoor sport.
Looking at York this week just like to withdraw that praise as the booth appears to be as intrusive as ever.
May 17, 2014 at 13:36 #479358Quite a nice feel to the show today, Clare and Mick outside at Newbury and just glimpses of the dreaded mobile home parked up at York and the lovely Emma.
May 17, 2014 at 14:52 #479362Clare Balding "and they’ve just put that hood on to disorientate him so he’ll go in the stalls"
Thanks for that.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 17, 2014 at 18:11 #479373I can’t say i’ve missed Nick Luck today.
May 18, 2014 at 08:15 #479424Offering to show leg 6 of the record breaking Scoop 6 from Thirsk ‘If there are any live tickets still in it’ as if that in itself is a treat to the viewers.
They announce this concession Whilst leg 1 is underway, at a track where their cameras & crew are, but they aren’t showing live? Couldn’t they have started their broadcast 5 minutes earlier so we could enjoy the only leg where everyone’s hopes and dreams are still in tact?
No, let’s go to Claire for a brief history of Newbury racecourse. Inspired.
Not that I’m bitter of course……
August 9, 2014 at 23:48 #487944I should like Channel 4 to stop using the light surface visual effect as horses approach the winning line. It’s a distraction and doesn’t enhance the viewers enjoyment. I’ve now watched several re-runs of the 2000Guineas via YouTube and far prefer the finish area when it is normal, natural, green grass!
No annoying turf graphics today!
Hopefully they won’t come back, but maybe they just weren’t working today.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
August 10, 2014 at 11:06 #487973I would prefer C h 4 to stop broadcasting racing , their efforts are very poor
I suspect it will happen sooner than most folks think , commercially it makes no sense to have racing on for 2 hours on a sat afternoon , when am old rehash movie would pull in at least the same amount of viewers if not more ….the penny will drop and that will be goodbye racing ….
This may not please everyone , but at some stage the advertisers will want more bang for their dosh !!!
August 10, 2014 at 20:56 #487992I’m convinced that Ricky has his tongue very firmly in his cheek when commenting that he’d prefer C4 to stop broadcasting racing. We all have views about how well or otherwise the dedicated terrestrial channel covers our sport, but putting personal preferences aside, racing fans don’t do that badly from the network output available. The very last thing I’d want C4 to consider is a withdrawal!
August 11, 2014 at 07:49 #488000I agree that it could come to a point where c4 decide to cut and run. It makes financial sense unfortunately.btw is there still a station in Australia where you can see all the days races for free. Just curious.
August 12, 2014 at 09:05 #488074Despite their flaws, I’d hate to see C4 Racing come to an end. It’d feel like losing a big tooth.
And what would replace it … more of Come Dine With Me? *pass the sick bucket*
August 12, 2014 at 20:35 #488116as I don’t have racing uk then channel 4 is the only place I can see races that atr don’t cover so still need it but it is so amateurish and if only they could actually put on racing people the public could relate to.They shouldn’t have changed the people on before and the likes of Alistair down etc are sadly missed.
