Gord i like CANLAY in paddy power chase tomorrow any thoughts on gold cup after kg today.
Yes Darren,on Heavy ground
Silviniaco Conti
is a certainty……..However on genuine Good ground
First Lieutenant
beats all.Anyone sitting on 10/1 vouchers about
Sir des Champs
can sleep easy, anyone sitting on single figure prices about ‘Cue Card’ can bin them now!
December 26, 2013 at 21:42 #463058Would ya stop Gord Defy Logic beat Trifolium today despite going a suicidal clip, his engine certaily defies logic!

Well done with My Tent and a happy christmas
December 29, 2013 at 23:12 #463458Hope you had a good Xmas too Tommy, that bloody ‘Bobs Worth’ proves again what a horse my
First Lieutenant
and
Tidal Bay
are franking the 2012 Hennessey form yet again.I thought yesterday we had ‘Bloody Bob Beat’ but what a tenacious little bugger he is and credit to all his connections for a masterful performance.I’ve said it umpteen times now but take that ‘Bloody Bob’ out of the Gold cup and my fellows a good thing, one of these days the best looking horse and best jumper will get the better of the Henderson champ,he might just get the faster ground come March and steal a bit more of a lead, here’s hoping!
Great to see ‘Jezki’ give the champ a run today that can only bolster confidence in theMy Tent or yours
camp, again my fellow has still masses of improvement to come so TAPK’s Cheltenham portfolio is looking strong particularly at the big double figure prices I’ve tucked into the velvet lining of my throne.

Our Conor
was a Lay,lay, lay today but most of us knew that anyway.
January 2, 2014 at 17:16 #463598Being the ‘King of the Layers’ particularly the short price Lays I cant say I cleaned up on
Sprinter Sacres
incredible run last week.I like to think I know my horses and when you bet in running you have too,I knew ‘Cedre Bleu’ was the Lay of the day yesterday as he’s a proper ‘bridle horse’ but ‘Sprinter’ going from Hero to Zero in one stride was never going to ring any alarm bells.Lets hope his very strange ‘heart issue’ doesn’t re-occur as the Layers will be queuing up to hit the Lay button at 1/5 next time.
Boston bob
did nothing wrong yesterday and plenty of Evens in running really was a Xmas present to claw back our RSA losses.William Hills 14/1 wont last for the World hurdle now he looks like doing an
Inglis Drever
.
Happy New Year to all by the way,I’ve been asked several times to start my ‘TAPK’s Cheltenham Wagers Part 3’ sooner rather than later.
I have to say I thinkTaquin de seul
has ‘Jewson’ written all over him,he has way more scope than ‘Old Oscar’ imo.
Taquin de Seul
£100 e/w 12/1 Corals ‘Jewson’.
January 2, 2014 at 19:35 #463614Happy New Year mate – I’m already on Boston Bob but am worried they will send Annie for this race too!!

The Liquidator entered to run in the group 1 novice hurdle at Sandown tomorrow, very tempted to go to see him in the flesh.
Not sure if they’ll run him though, been raining non stop here (like everywhere, I’m sure) and looking up the rain clouds don’t seem to be dissapearing any time soon, it’ll definitely be Heavy ground by racetime tomorrow.

Sandown abandoned
January 3, 2014 at 17:01 #463725Rumours from across the water that SDC is out for the season!
January 4, 2014 at 14:15 #463898Sad news about SDC that is hope he be back next season

Gord happy new year and also any ew bets on the 4 classics this year as well. And watch out for a Sea the stars bred horse called
RIP ROARING won’t come to England but see her doing well in France.January 5, 2014 at 14:34 #463976Terribly sad news about Terry Biddlecombe, character but people forget he was also Champion Jockey and part of the team that superbly trained Best Mate, awesome 3 time Gold Cup winner
RIP TBJanuary 5, 2014 at 14:50 #463978Well said Gary,I had the pleasure of Terrys anecdotes down at Hens on several visits to see ‘Calg’,a horse he had a big soft spot for like myself.
Doms ride he gave the big horse in the ‘Skybet Chase’ was a big tonic at Donny but unfortunately he wasn’t there to see it.Great guy he was though imo too.RIP TERRY.January 5, 2014 at 15:28 #463985Popped up to Scotland for ‘Tawties n Neeps’ and to see my Family for the New Year,it was Sh*t driving conditions up the old North Road but seeing how I know every twist and turn the A1 is still my fav route.I like to stop off for a swift one in ‘The Oak’ at Catterick and a brew on the Holy Island when tides permit,I even had a ‘Black puddin Supper’ in Lochgelly.I took the Missus’s brand new ‘B-Max’that this years Arc was supposed to have paid for so coming through Cowdenbeath I made sure the doors were locked,I could guarantee someone from round that way would take offence to an English accent in years gone by,particularly in ‘Starks Bar’ which is sadly closed down next to the Raith Rovers ground.I love to reminisce up there about the times I’d get a stot af the pus just for being English.Whoever says the Scots dont have a chip on their shoulders is kidding themselves and those who think Scotland would survive 5 minutes of ‘true’ independance are those who still drink Tennants/Whiskey chasers…………..daily! I still laugh at my Marine Pals who often train up at Arbroath and race up from Poole in Dorset, they store all the rubbish they can gather on the journey and sling it out right on the ‘Welcome to Scotland’ sign in the borders.
January 6, 2014 at 10:11 #464047A year ago I was sitting on some healthy Ante-Post vouchers for
Darlan
to win the Champion hurdle,he was of course my previous years banker for the ‘Supreme’,a race that AP knows he should have won.At the same time last year I was sitting on even more Ante-Post vouchers on a horse I compared to the equivalent of ‘Darlan’ at their respective time of their careers but I always felt
My Tent or Yours
just had that bit more size and therefore scope so much so I even backed him for the 2014 Champion hurdle then.I was at Newbury the day ‘Darlan’ fell in the Betfair hurdle and felt robbed. No question I was robbed! He was a certainty off 146! A year later though my new ‘Darlan’ gets in the same race, formerly known as the Tote Gold trophy off a mark of 149. Yep 14 ****** 9 and here’s me calling him a Champion hurdler even then,of course
My Tent or yours
cantered round at 5/1.Yes I celebrated hard as per usual but again come ‘Supreme’ day I get mugged,my 20/1 vouchers on a 15/8fav may as well have been 5/1,still profitable but it doesn’t ease the pain of losing like that.Today I still watch ‘Darlan’ and ‘MTOY’ doing there thing in the Betfair,Xmas hurdle and Supreme and I’d swap all their victories to see ‘MTOY’ win the Champion hurdle. Those of us who saw him get beat by
The New One
at Aintree 2 years ago giving the winner 6lb have pretty much kept the faith, one or 2 on here maybe were lured into the Twiston-Davies camp on hearing bullish reports but not me.I said all year that ‘TNO’ was never a 7lb better horse than mine and now the Official handicapper finally agrees,my fellow still has another 5-6lb improvement in him from now till March,’TNO’ doesn’t have an ounce and if anything the Xmas hurdle only confirmed that mentally ‘MTOY’ has matured, that race gave the Henderson horse more credit than the runner-up.Should either one or the other not turn up then the race will be ruined as this is as close to a 2 horse race as ‘Kauto v Denman’ was back in 2008………..And I was on the Tank at 10/1.
Ante-Post betting is as much a test of ones skill at identifying talent at an early stage as it is patience.I can wait a year for a bet on a horse to come to fruition but you turn up 5 mins late for a meeting and you’ll get the wrath of TAPK…….Strange Fu*ker I am.January 6, 2014 at 18:18 #464084Gord you missed my last post you did
And i add what chance you give MERRY KING in grand national and how you see KINGSTON HILL progressing this year.
January 11, 2014 at 12:28 #464621Darren I’m not a fan of
Kingston hill
and wouldn’t touch him with a bargepole for the Derby at 10/1 and
Merry King
wont get round in the Grand national so you have no fears there.Your
Australia
however could easily do a ‘Camelot’.
Today I’m on both
River Maigue
‘Supreme’ horse better than these and my old pal
Hey big spender
at 16/1,he’s just way over-priced for a previous winner of the Warwick chase.
January 11, 2014 at 14:05 #464635Get in Royal Boy (my Lanzarote selection ante post!) must be good encouragement for River Maigue, got those 2 with Emperors choice in EW trixie
January 11, 2014 at 23:38 #4647052.50 Kelso – BARNEVELDER is a speculative choice as i feel he’s far too big a price at 16/1(may trade bigger on the exchanges)in a very poor race. He won very easily off a 7lb higher mark in Ireland(87) & was then slaughtered by the handicapper & ended up as high as 100. The second horse in that race was beaten a short head off a mark of 90. Probably neede his pipe opener last time out after a lay off & is now racing off a mark of 80. I think he could well spring a surprise at decent odds in either/both the win & place markets.
