I was at Worcester that day as well and remember that race as a comedy of errors. The only real danger to Dagobertin fell at the first, then after Dagobertin came down at the last, the horse he left clear also managed to unseat. The two of them then hampered the one that had been in third, leaving Wicket, who’d been a remote 4th jumping two out, to win.
I watched down by the last fence and recall the jockey on Wicket laughing at the other three as he sailed past them. Having backed the first fence faller, I didn’t find it funny!
