    Entries……

    https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/28/kempton/2020-02-22/749551

This race is obviously not the highlight it once was, but I’ve seen worse entries for it in recent years.

No market as yet, so know idea if I’d be interested in an early bet, but this looks ideal for Erick Le Rouge. Fine performance here last time, and rise looks fair. Obviously a player.

Off of their current marks, I’d be be looking at Secret Investor, and Kildisart as well.

Double Shuffle is finally starting to slip to a more realistic mark and having finished second in the race off 4lb lower is worth a look when the market goes up.

It’s strange how some races are hindered by new sponsors. I used to look forward to this race every year, yet last year or the one before I didn’t even realise what race it was until it occurred to me that it was on the same day as the Eider (fantastic double). It’s a shame as it was a proper pre-Cheltenham highlight.

I was really keen on Azzerti for The Skybet Chase, but he let me down. I’ll steal the early 25-1 again here probably, but it might just be wise to wait for other firms.

The other one for me is Mister Malarky, but I’ll wait till later with him.

Case and point I suppose!

It’s probably not fallen that far from grace, but the sentimentalist in me doesn’t see the same race I did a few years ago and I’m not convinced the racing world does either. But then again it’s probably just me

I think you’re right Peter. The race declining in significance, ties in closely with The Racing Post dropping their sponsorship.

Mister Malarky or Secret Investor for me, but I’ll definitely wait and see what happens tomorrow.

This looks risky even at this stage. Main fancy Erik Le Rouge has another entry on the card, so I’ll sit tight for now.

I think Sametegal is a decent EW shot at 12/1. He was a two length fourth last time here and has been left on the same mark for that effort. He completely missed a fence at the beginnen of that race. I hope he is anywhere near his old form.

    Sametegal 12/1 EW

I like Adrien du Pont here. I think this has been his target this season.

Just A Sting ew 5 places. Course form, low weight, saved for this. That’ll do.

Happy to have waited on this, with original fancy taking up his other option.

Almost decided to sit it out, but in the end went with Black Corton at 7’s. Certainly a big ask off of top weight, and that certainly makes life easier for his three stablemates, but I’ve been happy enough with him since his win at Sandown in the spring.

His run in The Galway Plate off a pound lower entitles him to take this, and I think I should get a run for my money.

I see Kildisart and Whatmore as potential dangers, but if I do have a back up, I might just side with another Nicholls Runner, Romain De Senam. Surely can’t win off this mark, but I can see him repeating his fourth in this last year, even with a huge hike in the weights. Fifth would do.

Possible – Romain De Senam 40’s EW 5 Places

I remember Romain De Senam traveling very well in the race, until he started to weaken from three out.
40/1 EW is very tempting, but he doesn’t seem the type to win first time out.

VtC, I agree on Romain De Senam, and I have to go with him ew.

Main selection win only though is Whatmore.
