With the 6 horses finishing within less than 3 lengths, I send the handicapper my congratulations.
Wait a moment, it wasn’t a handicap; it was a conditions stakes with 5 horses carrying 9 stones and one, the listed winner, Highfield Princess, rated 15, 20, 22, 23 and 42 pounds above her rivals yet carrying just 3 pounds more.
I was perplexed by Highfield Princess’s odds throughout the day.
