17 runners but may not be as difficult as it looks. The evidence of the first races at Newmarket shows that the ground is good and there seems to be an advantage in being drawn high. This should suit Nawaqees who represents the J.Dunlop/R.Hills combination who have won the first and second races at Newmarket today.
Nawaqees did not stay the 10f in softish ground at Salisbury last time out but ran well in his previous 2 races over 1 mile and has the beating of Gaelic Princess & Ashes Regained on his run at Newbury. A lot of his opponents look exposed/out of form or handicp’d up to their ability. Main danger looks to be the lightly raced Lady Stardust from the in form Fanshawe yard and is understandably the favorite. Third Set looks a decent outsider at about 20’s if he stays the one mile. I’ve bet on Nawaqees e/w at 7/1 – likes to finish from off the pace so I hope he gets a clear run.
