Newbury is my favorite racecourse and one of the very few where I regularly back winners. In the 3:55 today, the favorite is Lovelace but he has gone up 10lb in the hcap for winning 2 races on fast ground and may struggle to win on the predicted slower surface at Newbury and is no value imo.
Partners in Jazz is fancied but I think he was probably flattered when finishing 3rd last saturday in a muddling race at Newmarket and his trainer is not in great form. Jamieson Gold will probably struggle with having to carry a 6lb penalty for winning 2 days ago in a close finish at Sandown.I like the chances of Folly Lodge trained by the in form Barry Hills. This horse won over C/D on his first run this season ( the form has worked out reasonably well ) and will not mind any ease in the ground. Looks decent e/w value at 9/1. Has to be held up so may need some luck in running.
The danger may be Burning Incense who finished 5th in a decent race over 7f at Ascot recently and is worth a covering bet imo.
Good luck to everybody at Newbury today.
