Wetherby – Omitted Flight

I’ve just watched yesterdays racing.

I can only assume they omitted the last flight in this race because of a damaged hurdle but this is getting ridiculous. Skelton comes over to the near side rail only to discover between the last two flights that he is going to have to go all the way round the flight and ended up finishing third.

Are you really telling me they didn’t have time to replace one hurdle while the horses went round their final circuit but they were able to put three detour signs in the hurdles.

When I go to Perth I will normally stand by the final flight for one race. There are ground staff there and if a hurdle gets damaged on the first lap they change it in around half a minute. Why couldn’t Wetherby do that.
