..he is…although by Oasis Dream..he still needed all of this 7f to grab second on the line, in the Prix de la Piste Rodosto at Chantilly.. behind filly Isis…. the horse he beat for 2nd place, with the white face and noseband, is Duquesa Penguin… formerly trained over here – down the field in the Brocklesby… but now trained in France and last ran in a claimer….so the form here is a bit suspect… but De Treville shows some promise for longer trips I think… he’s with red sleeves, coming late …

July 9, 2014 at 11:00 #485048High Celebrity, my personal favorite among the juvenile crop on visual impression so far, entered in the Duchess Of Cambridge this Friday.
July 9, 2014 at 12:02 #485050..yes, I was just going to post that…and I’m very pleased to see this… unusual for Fabre to bring over a 2yo this early I think..?.. I highlighted her earlier on this thread with the video of her maiden win…against probably very weak opposition but nonetheless, she could have won by half a furlong…
… it’s a shame that Cursory Glance and Tiggy Wiggy are not running… but we should see what this filly is made of… 3rd fav for the 1000G already…and I’d like to see her favourite after Thursday…and prove the RPR rating, where she is 12lbs below Al Naamah, which can only be pure guesswork – all wrong..!July 9, 2014 at 12:08 #485051Ugly Mare, do you know of any video footage from Sivoliere’s races? I haven’t seen her running yet.
Al Namaah is supposed to be Marcel Boussac bound long-term and it might be a slight concern to her followers that Andre Fabre does not appear much in the list of winning trainers of that particular race.
..no problem… in the first race, a 5f maiden at Maisons Laffitte… she easily beat a horse that finished 4th in the Gr. 3 Prix du Bois the other day… she does all her best work at the end…
..in the 2nd race the Prix Pawneese over 6f she just quickened clear to win going away from a poor field although one in behind went on to win recently… both these early season races are little better than claimers it has to be said… but it’s the way she quickens and distances herself from the others, which for a Sea The Stars filly, just seems to be one of immense promise… we shall see.. it’s surprising she was brought out to race so early in the season, to be honest…just to pick up a couple of mediocre sprints…

yeah… Fabre not too hot in the Marcel Boussac… one winner and a few placed in the last 20 years or so…. I’m not convinced Al Naamah will have enough speed for this race… much more a staying type seems to me, like her sister [Was]…and wouldn’t be surprised if he has quicker ones at home…
Thanks very much for that Ugly Mare.
Solviere looks very precocious for a Sea The Stars filly. 6f seemed to suit better than 5f and perhaps 7f would be fine for her. I always wonder about 2yos who can win at 5f getting a mile though, certainly at 2yo at least.
My one concern would be that she looks a bit small though. I haven’t seen the two horses together, but I am sure Al Naamah would be a fair bit bigger, she certainly overshadowed the runner up in terms of physique on her debut.
It will be interesting if they do clash, Solviere looks the faster filly but I would say Al Naamah has more scope. Looking to the Marcel Boussac a mile is a fair way for 2yo fillies but there can be a lack of pace in French races and a race that turned into a sprint wouldn’t play to the strengths of a full sister to Was. Hopefully they will make enough use of her if she turns up on the day.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 10, 2014 at 19:00 #485169..yeah..I suppose she does look a bit small now you come to mention it…having another look… the opposition has dropped away for Sunday’s Longchamp race.. Fabre has pulled out Al Naamah and De Treville… so Sivoliere is still up against a few previous winners but none from big stables..can’t wait to see how she gets on – I do hope she goes on from here…
…going change at Newmarket, but still really looking forward to High Celebrity…as are many others it seems…Fabre states aims are possibly Prix Morny and Cheveley Park if she comes through this…if she does, I have a feeling some people will be getting the cheque books out…don’t you..?
July 10, 2014 at 19:01 #485170..Ivawood was rather good today… I like the way this one keeps galloping..no sign of stopping…

I am very interested in seeing how High Celebrity gets on. I happened to be on Oddschecker when the first betting came through for the race and was tempted by the 6/4. As usual, when you hang off for a quick think about it, the odds are gone and she is generally a shade of odds-on now. The O’Brien runner I Am Beautiful is very weak and out to 5/1 in the betting.
I expect Fabre’s filly to win this fairly comfortably and when you think of Arab Spring at Evs today, the 6/4 is probably going to look a nailing bet in comparison.
Not sure where we will see Al Naamah next but I will try to catch Sivoliere’s race on Sunday.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Richard Hughes said just before today’s race that this colt was the first one he had sat on this year that gave him the wow factor.
We were told that the horse is named after Ivor Wood, who was the animator for the TV series The Magic Roundabout. Obviously the sire Zebedee is the inspiration for both today’s winner and stablemate Dougal’s names. I think there is a Magical Roundabout in the stable as well.

Just hope they aren’t like the characters as they’ll all soon be banned for drug taking. Also can’t wait for the new Captain Pugwash horses, Seaman Staines etc. Here’s hoping

..well, that’s a relief… I had wondered if it referred to something a little more risqué…lol
July 11, 2014 at 13:20 #485218..bit disappointing that…she looked to be going so well too…perhaps a return to 7f and better ground might suit High Celebrity…
July 11, 2014 at 13:22 #485220A bit green and perhaps a bit out-jockeyed with High Celebrity but disappointing nevertheless. She has the physique to be the horse to improve with time and experience from those who ran today but the money that saw her come into 20/1 for the 1000G prior to today’s race must look a bit shaky now. She will need to make dramatic improvement to be involved in my opinion.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 11, 2014 at 13:55 #485227Did you guys see Hugo Palmer’s Home Of The Brave on debut at Windsor the other week?
It pulled harder than anything and kept tugging for 3/4 of the race, but still stayed on like a train and was perhaps unfortunate not to catch the winner. He is already entered up in the Gymcrack and might be another classy Starspangledbanner colt.
July 11, 2014 at 18:14 #485244I believe Star-Spangled Banner only ended up with 25horses after his stint at stud but seems to be producing an amazing level of horse from that small batch. If his offspring as tough as he was then the owners will get a great time owning them. Not every horse is naturally great at stud but wished he had been more prolific at stud as he seems ideal stallion material, tough and top class.
July 11, 2014 at 21:03 #485253Starspangledbanner produced about 30 in his spell at Coolmore Stud in Ireland and another 30 or so when he shuttled to Australia.
Since moving back to Rosemont with their "any hole’s a goal" method of managing his stud career, he managed to get another 50 mares in foal. There is a great article about his life, owners and future prospects here:
July 12, 2014 at 07:44 #485305went to ATR to watch Home of the Brave.Must have see a different race from the one described above. The winner was eased up by R Hughes.Nobody threatened him including HotB.
July 12, 2014 at 08:15 #485308We’ll have to see Andy. Fair enough if you disagree, but I think HotB will end up being the better horse by 15-20lbs.
