Here are the closing stages from Al Namaah’s debut win today.
The owners tweeted:-
"Al Shaqab quickly tweeted: "Winner!! Al Naamah is so impressive on her debut at Chantilly this afternoon! Andre has a very big smile on his face!""
Harry Herbert stated:-
“She did it very easily, she wouldn’t blow a candle out,” said Sheikh Joaan’s racing advisor Harry Herbert.
“Andre [Fabre, trainer] likes her a lot and she has shown today that she could be very special. She is a beautiful specimen with a fantastic pedigree and she has her whole racing career ahead of her.”
Stilvi said:-
"Two-horse race. Strictly speaking the second comes out the better horse as she was conceding six pounds. She had previously won very easily on soft ground but the ground was much quicker today."
Steve Caution said:-
The winner is bred to be good and it is encouraging that she could win first time up over 7f and on quick ground. It is noticeable in the closing stages how much bigger the winner is than the runner up and I’d be willing to wager that she will confirm the form with the runner up off level weights.
Judge for yourselves folks:-
Oh dear, what are we trying to achieve here? It is hard to believe an adult can be quite so childish. For someone who is by far and away the biggest trumpet blower on the forum it doesn’t take much to upset you does it?

It’s just a bit of banter. I had my post on Daily Lays and Plays regarding a bet on this horse up for five minutes and you chose to reply to it poo-pooing the merit of the bet. You referred to it as a "dream" bet, all very dismissive of it and generally bringing negativity that was not asked for. Most reports I read were very positive about Al Nahaam and I decided to include your remark as balance because obviously I might have been overly enthusiastic.
A simple solution to not being quoted is to avoid butting into someone else’s thread and being critical of their thinking.
Ante Post betting is not for everyone and the perception of value is down to the backer to decide the merits thereof.
A bit of pot and kettle going on there with saying I am easily upset and then letting your own rattle bounce along the floor.
I backed the horse for the Oaks and Guineas at 25/1. The best price available for both races is now 20/1 and shorter with most firms. If she wins her next start that will tumble further.
I won’t quote you again but I really must advise that, if my posts are not your cup of tea, there is always the option to ignore them.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 25, 2014 at 15:15 #483924Mountainside in the 6:50 at Kempton this evening. He holds a Derby entry and I’m so curious that I’ve stuck a spare fiver on him
June 26, 2014 at 13:28 #483978Andre Fabre had a winner in the opener at Chantilly today who is bred for the game.
Al Namaah cost 5 million Guineas and is a full sister to Oaks winner Was. Today’s race was over 7f and it is obviously encouraging that she could win first time up. By the "king" of sires Galileo, she was sent off evs fav today, with the next in the betting 5/4, so obviously she was not expected to have it all her own way.
I didn’t see the race but was told she "hosed in"
An exciting prospect surely?
ps Entered into the 1000 G betting at 25/1
Al Namaah is best priced 16/1 for the 1000 Guineas now and 14/1 with two firms.
The information was presented here to offer advice that readers can choose to agree with or ignore as they see fit. I strongly felt that, regardless of the intrinsic value, the opening odds would probably be the best price we may ever have gotten on the horse.
Apologies to anyone who thinks there is another motive here.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 30, 2014 at 09:25 #484382GLENEAGLES was a nice winner at derby weekend. But very impressed with WORDS when 2yos from yard have needed the she won well and saw daylight when coming wide too.
June 30, 2014 at 14:54 #484402I heard that the Mark Johnston filly
Muraaqaba
could go a bit and tuned in to see if there was a betting opportunity. I seemed as if the world and his wife also heard though, as she went off 2/1 and therefore didn’t carry my money.
Muraaqaba
made all to win by more than three lengths at Newmarket over 6f and she should improve from that. A Hamdan Al Maktoum daughter of Dubawi out of Nufoos (also trained by Johnston) it will be interesting to see where she goes next.
She has entered the 1000 Guineas betting at 25/1 and looks a useful prospect.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 1, 2014 at 19:05 #484457HIGHLAND REEL ran out a easy winner today looks a very nice horse any thoughts on him.
I myself still waiting for this SIR ISAAC NEWTON.
July 2, 2014 at 18:01 #484527Obriens 2yos are flying now and stable horses look to be free from the cough. Highland reel improved a massive amount from debut so expect a load of youngsters winning in the next two weeks. Always be wary of the form on extremes like grand dukedofTuscany winning by 19lengths but it does show ballydoyle juggernaut is back on track. Glen eagles has the look of a group horse and the horse who was a couple of lengths behind him,Jamaica, looks like a young magician. As we saw on Irish derby day outside ballydoyle there is a worrying lack of competition to ballydoyle in Ireland.

I had a word that US Navy Seal was supposed to be a more long term War Front colt from the O’Brien yard, compared to The Great War and War Envoy who made earlier debuts and who have since disappointed to some extent. There seemed to be confidence behind him on his debut and he raced prominently, looking like he was set to kick and put the race to bed. Instead he weakened very disappointingly and finished last. I hope he can leave that well behind him.
The stable has the enviable arsenal of beautifully bred individuals and, as usual, it will be a case of picking the ones who will best progress from 2 to 3 years of age.
Jim Bolger has had it pretty quiet this past couple of seasons and outside of Dawn Approach he hasn’t had a lot to shout about. Dermot Weld seems the main opposition with John Oxx being a little bit below his high standards recently.
The Godolphin operation should have been the Behemoth that would challenge Ballydoyle but they are fitful at best despite the huge investment in the game. Sheihk Mohammed has said he is happy with the level of success but I don’t think I would be if I were paying the bills and watching the team, not so much playing second fiddle to Ballydoyle but probably more like fifth fiddle behind Gosden, Hannon and Stoute in addition.
I can’t actually recall the last time I backed a Godolphin runner, I did think about Elite Army at Royal Ascot but felt he was short enough. They seem to have plenty promising two year olds who win first time and don’t progress. Folk Melody was a notable one from last season who was deliberately put away after one run because she was a "serious long term prospect" she has been 8th, 8th and 7th this year, going from Group 3, Listed and Handicap grade in the process and that makes pretty grim reading for a horse considered a "live outsider" for the 1000 Guineas at one time.
I couldn’t get excited about their 2yos for the Classics until they show signs of turning things around and they should be doing better in my opinion anyway.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 3, 2014 at 07:20 #484543With ballydoyle coming out of their troubles and lack of form of others. Hopefully the season will kick on now and we see a good battle for the trainers championship and more like Australia and kingman emerge. Ballydoyles best 2yo doesn’t usually appear till late July/early august so the best might be yet to come. The voltigeur could be a cracker with godsend and obrien having some good runners there. Could turn out to be one of the races of the season. At the moment it does seem like ins obrien v godsen and hannon with stoute improving fast. Go dolphins return on investment is pitiful and goes to show that ballydoles stallions are all conquering and will only get stronger once the likes of Australia and magician are added to the list. Only hope is that sheik Johanns investment bears fruit bit that is a few years away yet. Btw I think john magnier doesn’t get enough praise for his spotting of horses as the length of time he has got it right is quite staggering and with the tie up with war front and Chinese investment looks like he has a good few years left dominating the sport. Australia looks a fabulous stallion in the making and leading like could well breed fantastic derby/ st leger types. Not all doom and gloom.
July 3, 2014 at 15:21 #484583John Gosden had a winner at Haydock today and he is the new favourite for next year’s 2000 Guineas.
Faydhan
is a son of War Front and he cost half a million guineas. Ran a bit green today but came away from the Charlie Hills trained second favourite to win by 6 lengths over the six furlong trip.
He’s entered in the Gimcrack and obviously could be anything in time but I would say 16/1 to win year’s 2000 Guineas is pretty short when you consider Kingman couldn’t do it.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 3, 2014 at 17:57 #484592Yet another exciting colt by war front emphasising the stranglehold coolmore and it’s tie ins have on breeding. What an amazing stallion from what was Avery good race career but not the very top.
July 4, 2014 at 12:51 #484656..a filly highlighted earlier on this thread..Andre Fabre’s Al Namaah… is entered in the 1400m Prix Roland de Chambure on Sunday 13 July… Fabre also has De Treville in this, a colt beaten by the unfortunately named filly Isis…first time out…
…of Fabre’s two, it will be interesting to see if he runs Al Namaah – I hope he does actually…as she is likely to come up against a filly I highlighted on another thread about Sea The Stars..called Sivoliere..now unbeaten in 2 races having toyed with the opposition last time…as like her sire, she promises to be better the further she goes……I thought she might be bought by one of the bigger owners, but she was sold sure enough, and is now owned by Marc de Chambure..who presumably is related to the person in the race title here..
…a fascinating race for two year old interest, if they both show up…

Ugly Mare, do you know of any video footage from Sivoliere’s races? I haven’t seen her running yet.
Al Namaah is supposed to be Marcel Boussac bound long-term and it might be a slight concern to her followers that Andre Fabre does not appear much in the list of winning trainers of that particular race.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 8, 2014 at 21:14 #485025Saturday’s Superlative Stakes at Newmarket could be a useful race if the main protagonists all turn up, I have a feeling Peacock will scare them all off…..
Blackbeard to conquer the World

..no problem… in the first race, a 5f maiden at Maisons Laffitte… she easily beat a horse that finished 4th in the Gr. 3 Prix du Bois the other day… she does all her best work at the end…
..in the 2nd race the Prix Pawneese over 6f she just quickened clear to win going away from a poor field although one in behind went on to win recently… both these early season races are little better than claimers it has to be said… but it’s the way she quickens and distances herself from the others, which for a Sea The Stars filly, just seems to be one of immense promise… we shall see.. it’s surprising she was brought out to race so early in the season, to be honest…just to pick up a couple of mediocre sprints…

yeah… Fabre not too hot in the Marcel Boussac… one winner and a few placed in the last 20 years or so…. I’m not convinced Al Naamah will have enough speed for this race… much more a staying type seems to me, like her sister [Was]…and wouldn’t be surprised if he has quicker ones at home…

De Treville is out of Dar Re Mi, isn’t he?
