Was there any reaction after from connections about Marsh Hawk?

I haven’t heard anything yet Nathan. To me she didn’t quite get home today despite the slow early pace.
I haven’t seen enough from her to think she’s a Guineas contender and it was a pretty disappointing day for the Hannons all round.
As I said before the race the stable have never landed the Middle Park or the Dewhurst and they looked to have a good shot at breaking the hoodoo with two odds on contenders at one stage this week.
The Racing Post made a booboo in their race report for the Fillies Mile, I wonder if any eagle eyed punter can suss it out here:-
"ANOTHER hot favourite was downed on Future Champions Day when Godolphin flagbearer Lucida could finish only third as victory went to Together Forever for the Coolmore Stud team"
OR in the same report:-
"Winters Moon finished third at 20-1 as Lucida came home fifth of the seven runners."
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 17, 2014 at 20:09 #492619Lucida finished behind Marsh Hawk but like you say Steve the Hannon filly didn’t look to get home as she had the run of the race and the going to suit whereas Lucida looks to be better suited to more firmer going.

I had the ideal chance to ask Mr Hannon when bumping into him at Ascot today, but no I just stood there like a star-stuck teenager at a Robbie Williams concert…………

October 29, 2014 at 21:55 #493759From Hannon’s website regards Estidhkaar
The Champagne Stakes winner went to post at HQ as poorly as did Treve at Royal Ascot, and Angus Gold, racing manager to the Sheikh, said:"Estidhkaar has a small hairline fracture of his hock. We felt something had to be wrong in the Dewhurst, because Paul Hanagan had rung me after he had worked the Sunday before and said how well the horse had gone."However, he did not move well going to post at Newmarket and then didn’t travel well in the race, which is not like him, so we suspected that all was not right, especially as he hadn’t been keen on leaving the stalls.
"Estidhkaar will have between 4-6 weeks box-rest before going on the walker, but it is nothing major and he will be back next season."

October 30, 2014 at 15:18 #493814Estidhkaar is 25/1 for the 2000 Guineas Nathan and I suppose his fans will feel that is a big price with a reason for his poor Dewhurst showing having emerged.
Paul Hanagan miss-timed the start that day and banged the horse into the stall doors before they were opened, causing him to be headed backwards when they opened a second later.
Elm Park is 10/1 with Stan James for the 2000 Guineas and I just can’t see anything in his form that would indicate he was fast enough and they have expressed doubt’s about the track for him already. Looks a grim price to me.
Roger Varian’s Vert De Grece won the Criterium International at Saint Cloud today by four lengths and by landing that Group 1 contest he paid a nice compliment to Gleneagles, who beat him in the Futurity at the Curragh. Formerly trained in Ireland this horse looks a nice addition to a stable with a decent crop of 2yos this year.
As we know, Gleneagles has several stable mates who could improve past him over the winter and he himself is arguably the top 2yo colt on form this season.
Just off the top of my head I think Belardo on 119 is about the highest rated this year, with Ivawood and Charming Thought on 118 and Elm Park was given 117 after his win in The Racing Post Trophy.
On the fillies front, there were a couple of recent runaway winners at Doncaster on softish ground, in the form of John Gosden’s Star Of Seville and Godolphin’s Beautiful Romance, who took their maidens by 6 and 9 lengths respectively. It’s easy to get carried away with these back end maiden winners and I would say they are short enough for the Classics next year based on beating horses who have never won a race.
Star Of Seville had already had a race where she finished third, and she sat prominent all the way in her 1 mile race before drawing clear. I thought she had a slightly awkward head carriage and I was more impressed by the Godolphin filly who won by further and clocked a faster time over the same trip half an hour later, on what was her racecourse debut.
Beautiful Romance is a physically impressive daughter of New Approach and I liked that she sat in behind before coming through to take it up and come right away in the closing stages. I was tempted to have a wee bit of money on her for the Oaks but these Godolphin horses so often disappoint on their second start and don’t seem to progress when their breeding and physique would suggest they were nigh on certain to improve with time and experience.
Two promising fillies but 16/1 to 20/1 for Guineas and Oaks for both fillies is plenty skinny enough all things considered.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 30, 2014 at 17:08 #493821Golden Horn looked a very good horse yesterday winning at Nottingham on debut, maiden had a decent feel about it and he will only get better, he could be quite a classy horse.
Pamona recently for Luca Cumani was impressive taking a step forward on debut, she will surely only get better having already run to a fair standard on the clock for maiden company.

Golden Horn did well to catch the favourite and they were 7 lengths clear of the third horse. The Haggas trained favourite had previously finished a neck behind Aloft in a closely run 1-2-3-4 blanket finish at Newmarket. Aloft went on to run 2nd in The Racing Post Trophy behind Elm Park and that is obviously highly encouraging if the Group 1 form can stand the test of time and prove a reliable translation to the maiden race.

October 31, 2014 at 10:35 #493884Crystal Zvezda could prove a smart filly.
She was thrown in to a conditions race on her debut which Marsh Hawk won and she did little right that day just seemingly green as grass. Here is the thing, no way would Stoute have chucked her in at that level to start if he didn’t think she had plenty of ability.
She was out at Lingfield yesterday for her 2nd run and won with lots in hand never out of her comfort zone given a conservative winning ride by Shane Kelly. The race at face value looks ordinary but little doubt she has the ability to race to a much better standard.
A half sister to classy Crystal Capella and Hillstar I suspect we will see the best of her as she steps up in distance as a 3yo and looks a typcial Stoute horse, gradual progress and will be campaigned to reach her full potential.

Nice enough win today but I think Paddy Power got carried away with a quote of 12/1 for the 2000 Guineas. I would imagine Hannon has three or four better than Tupi in his yard and Faydhan just flopped completely today and is out of the Guineas already.
33/1 elsewhere for Home Of The Brave looks more like it and if he were mine I’d be going sprinting, but the lure of the Guineas will be strong.
12/1 Paddy Power? Sweet Baby Jebus.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 15, 2015 at 16:58 #889017Yeah, totally agree. He’s too headstrong to be a miler and the bustle of the Guineas could blow his mind…or his career. I’d aim him at the Jersey if he was mine.
