The Maiden on Sunday will be a very good race i would have thought and Zip Top should win the Group 3.

2:40 Curragh Jebel Ali Stables & Racecourse Anglesey Stakes (Group 3).

I cannot get over the time

    Fire Lily

achieved on going stated as yielding to soft (slow by 0.31s).

I provisionally gave the going allowance as -0.24s/f which would give

    Fire Lily

    (WGT 8-12) a rating of

    97

and put her of top of my 2yo ratings.

EDIT: The time based going was "GOOD" so much for the official going stated as "Yielding to soft".
Fire Lily’s rating was changed to

    87

No surprise to see him have the season off. Ran too bad to be true at Ascot. Hated the ground but completely dropped away. Wind op needed probably.

I know it wasn’t much of a race but CAMELOT impressed me at Leopardstown last Thursday though juveniles winning over a mile in mid-July scream middle-distance performer rather than Guineas horse to me.

Is he priced up for the 2012 Derby?

So many Guineas winners debut in August/September these days that I wouldn’t let that worry me about Camelot.

What would worry me about Camelot in terms of the Guineas is printed in small italics on the left-hand side underneath his name on a racecard. Begins with M.

M for Montjeu?? M for Maybe!! YES!!
50/1, for Camelot, for the Derby doesn’t look so crazy now!!
I like Maybe for the 1000 Guineas, although I was worried by the proximity of La Collina in her last run.
From the Coventry I took Gatepost, 33/1 compared to Powers 12/1 looks ridiculous, when you re-watch that race and see what Jamie Spencer asked that horse to do.
His dad won the 2000 guineas =)
Bapak Chinta looks a good bet for the Nunthorpe. Charles the Great boosted his form t’other day… No?
Also =) Antepost bet on Nobel Misssion & Born to sea on pedegree B4 they run… Go on then!!

Completely ignore any Coventry Stakes runners in the 2000 Guineas apart from Aidan’s horses. I wouldn’t back Maybe in a million years. She won the worst race at Royal Ascot (not just this year. It’s consistently the worst race.) and I’d be amazed if she stays ahead of La Collina in the Debutante or Moyglare.

Wow, I’ve just read about Apollo winning THAT maiden at The Curragh on Irish Oaks and Boylesports & Power offering 33s. I thought that’s fantastic value given the calibre of winners the maiden has thrown up over the years. Started odds-hunting but then thought I should look at his breeding at foaling date.

A mid-May Galileo x 10.8 damsire colt winning the Guineas!?!? Hilarious idea! Zero chance. The Irish Derby and St. Leger beckon.

    Hmmm not sure about the 2000 Guineas market right now. Don’t think the winner’s quoted yet unless he’s one of the following 5;

    Power
    Parish Hall (dreadful breeding)
    Ektihaam (utterly dreadful breeding)
Samminder (not particularly attractive from a profile point of view)
Born To Sea (purely from a value perspective, 50/1 with Hills is ridiculous on breeding alone)

The only 2000 Guineas winner are

    Power

    or

Incredible how weak the Guineas Picture is.
