.. how odd !
February 17, 2012 at 02:40 #391805Nothing odd about the desolation DAVE
it is bleak in deep space and
the history of this site demands it.
Daylight as you may remember,
removed the een weeks before
his own sad death.
It was a very difficult decision
and he laboured heavily on it,
and, despite his admission of liking the een,
he felt he could not tolerate his rude and
unacceptable behaviour, especialy
towards a man who had been instrumental
in setting down and engineering
the building blocks of the racing forum.
It was James Dean – the een,
against the power of the Matrix
who had helped build the software,
and construct the scene
– essentially one of the dream team.
Daylight killed off the een
with a very heavy conscience,
and despite liking him,
as he openly admitted, he sided
against the cream, and chose
the high standards he himself had
fought so long for,
and felt were expected of him,
especially on a family site
where women and children
would graze with their thick
woollen clothing unseen
– mostly undisturbed –
and even at night.Yes there was a sense of duty in it.
But looking back who knows if another
way could have been found to reduce
the angst to downsize the git
that appears just momentarily in every
laughable quipDo you know Dave, I knew Daylight so well;
I read most of his posts, knew his strengths
and weaknesses, and and got under his skin,
but I worried for him after this decision.
I felt it vexed him so, and saddened him
to see the light of the lounge fade out
under his own hand – I felt it stressed him
much more than he publicly let out.In a sense the een’s terrible legacy
was to remove the words and create a desert-
not only removing the clever one liners of the
word association gang – but all the words.
The desert sands shift slowly
the eery een is never seen
but the desolation is carried in the
wale and whistle of the wind that lacks the rain,
just bend your ears andhear hear
the refrain
–Katheen a come home a now.

..February 17, 2012 at 03:01 #391807In hindsight, Gamble, this was completely the wrong post of yours to be making a joke about and I wholeheartedly apologise. I read just a few opening lines, scrolled down, saw how much you wrote and immediately commented. Having now read it all, I can only ask that you forgive my foolish, ill-considered and knee-jerk response. It’s clear for all to see that you miss your friend who gave us this wonderful platform to communicate on, and I truly am sorry for any distress I caused you, for any sleep my reply made you miss out on this evening and for any taint to your, and anybody else’s, memories of Daylight.

February 17, 2012 at 14:17 #391919I was surprised by your earlier post
Zarkava but only that the hand behind it
was was also up at such an ungodly hour.
As for its substance, no need at all
for an apology – I liked it.
Thanks anyway, for your good intentions,
but feel free to bite my hand wheneverI am a devotee of splash or free writing
and spilling the mind. As to your reference
to my being mad – I had a chuckle at it
and have lost count of the
times I have read it about me, certainly
the een used the line and Salty Jack
used a similar word – now what was it
yes he told me I was psychotic in
a private message.Razeen was not a friend
I would not describe him as an enemy either
– an unsettling character,a combatant probably.Gingertipster’s 5 day plus silence record beats
my previous 4 day record so I hand the mantle
to him.Good thoughts on FOBT from you
and have wondered when Mac will take up
serious arms against the old enemy.
I can’t quite see him holding a lance aloft
maybe a banner with 13000 men behind.
This forum could kick some
serious ass if it set its mind to it.
I believe Matron is capable of driving a truck
through the gambling commission offices.Far to many words and too little true grit.
As for my late night post I regretted it too
and put it down to an Australian wine.I will reaturn to the bleak

p.s. got your friend comment wrong –
you were referring to Daylight.
Again we fought tooth and nail
but in the end we reached some
odd sort of consensus when the
whining ran out of gas.He died at an unusually young age
I doubt he lost too much sleep
over his decision about the een
but I felt he felt
it was the end of an era,
which it was.
Daylight devoted a lot of time to
building up the poker area
of the site organising
competitions and the like.
Whether he was doing too much
I will never know, but yes,
his efforts were greatly appreciated
and his legacy is this house.February 17, 2012 at 14:24 #391924‘Ass’? Australian wine? I thought you were better than that, Gamble

February 18, 2012 at 00:09 #392076The four day silence stood for
over five years Nathan and there
had been nothing like it before.Gingershhhhipster’s Spartacus post silenced
for 5 Days 10 hours and 25 minutes
until Aaronizneez broke it with ——.
There had been a three and a half day
silence in here just a few weeks
back, which held my interest,
so the silences are logging
up. I find them truly fascinating
although there is an ominous side
to them and a sign of an unhealthy
houseSheep are just men
in leggings with odd shoes
wearing macfactor
and women in little macs
wearing nothing underneath
but macfactor, and
They dance round
their crop circles
all dressed in heavy
outer wool,shouting macfactor
and leading simple lives,
often sleeping in the hills,
and just as the clip shows
they have found themselves
and a true togetherness
of foot that flows
– and all on a simple diet of
green shoot and the odd ****
in a brookThe meek shall inherit
the earth
was a misprint !
it should have read…
The sheep shall inherit
the mirth
macfactor is actually

See, that actually seems like a normal post!
February 18, 2012 at 08:43 #392123Thanks for pointing that out Zar
I haven’t examined the posts that
closely but anything of a serious or
sensitive nature I take away from
gamble and write myself. The rather staccato vertical layout
is in my opinion easier on the eye
and easier to read. Some of the
posts do rhyme but that
is more by accident
than design but
I do fiddle
a bit.Never alter the meaning
of the original spill.
I enjoyed the excursions
last night but rather
forced gamble into the
dogman post (sports betting)
purely to clear
my desk.It shows as a rushed
attempt and gamble
in my opinion
should face a
murder enquiry
for that one.
I usually take a
long break at this time
of year and that is
still my intention
but just now I seem
to be suffering from a bad
case of itchy fingers
just around midnight
and the enter
button beckons. They have also been showing a lot
old Poirot on the goggle menace
recently and the amazing Brett
has surfaced as Sherlock Holmes.
This feeds his obsessionFebruary 18, 2012 at 10:34 #392145I never knew desolation had a sound of it’s own?
