I couldnt resist
Bets placed on Coko Beach and Quick Wave.February 21, 2023 at 19:00 #1636467“Welsh National –
The Big Breakaway 148 – 2nd
Quick Wave 144 – PUNow –
The Big Breakaway 151
Quick Wave 152If Quick Wave is a weights standout gord knows what you would call The Big Breakaway :o)”
I don’t think the Welsh National is a reliable benchmark for Quick Wave. Not to play down The Big Breakaway’s run that day, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to use that example to compare the two.
February 21, 2023 at 19:01 #1636468Hewick seems weighted rather high. I know it’s tricky to rate his Far Hills hurdle run but looking at the NSA ratings (https://nationalsteeplechase.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/OfficialNotices-February7-2023.pdf) and bearing in mind that Snap Decision ran nowhere close to his form that day, I’d have him carrying 160lbs or less. Certainly not above Noble Yeats!
February 21, 2023 at 20:47 #1636477I’m attracted to Francky de berlais he runs better in the spring and summer as do quite a few of Bowens .
Also Born by the sea I know you shouldn’t go by intuition but I’ve long thought he had a big run in him .
It’s hard to dismiss Coko Beach too, such a grand sure footed horse who likes to be up there .
I’ll also be taking a look at Rapper and Eva’s Oscar nearer the time.February 21, 2023 at 21:08 #1636478Vanillier 100/1 or 66s nrnb is very very tempting off that weight
February 21, 2023 at 21:41 #1636482NRNB seems a lot better for punters on this, than in all those 200%+ books for “the Fez.”
Virtually anything you back won’t be running unless things go well (hence it will get shorter) between now and the race, there’s no Rule 4 and anything taken out is money back.
William Hill don’t even seem to be shorter than the other books and they’ve relaxed their restrictions a bit too.
You can get a nice little backers’ book going on the race.
It’s the most chance the William Hill Organisation have given punters since the late, great (he’d stand a bet) William Hill himself was alive!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 21, 2023 at 22:00 #1636484One who regularly catches my eye – having me thinking there is one big race in him – is Franco De Port. Whether the Grand National will be it is another matter, but I’ll back him NRNB.
February 22, 2023 at 05:17 #1636508Franco is a horse who always find a way to get beaten , he’s one of the first I put a line through …… He’ll prob win now , I see one the tipsters on the sportinglife website has put up Hill Sixteen
February 22, 2023 at 14:11 #1636532I’ve already bet one non runner and another who I’ve no longer got any interest in (Farclas). It’s perhaps best that I left it alone for now, but with my sensible hat on, it has to be Corach Rambler 12-1 nrnb
February 22, 2023 at 21:10 #1636601That’s my thoughts too Spoon, and I’m thinking Corach Rambler is just the sensible call here.
The other selection for me ante-post is Our Power 50-1 ew nrnb. He is a bit of a forgotten horse in my view.
February 22, 2023 at 21:44 #1636610“I’ve already bet one non runner and another who I’ve no longer got any interest in (Farclas).”
Don’t chuck the Farclas slip in the bin yet Spoon.
February 23, 2023 at 01:22 #1636621Decided on Remastered 25/1 EW nrnb with Hills. Should be good for a place, Hills are paying 5 places (fifth of odds) so I think I’ve got something to cheer on Grand National day.
The best things in life are free.
But you can give them to the birds and bees.February 23, 2023 at 11:54 #1636650Our Power was always my planned backup horse, should my first bet Fiddlerontheroof not make it there, and I have added him now 50-1 nrnb
I’m going to add another soon, and I’m torn between Vanillier, Any Second Now, and Pencilfulloflead
February 23, 2023 at 12:15 #1636652My ew 3…
Corach Rambler 20-1.
Delta Work 20-1. 5 places.
The Big Breakaway 33-1. 5 places.February 23, 2023 at 13:14 #1636656Went on record a while back as saying Sandy Thomson would win this race within 10 years, so will trust his judgement and initial selection is Sandy’s ‘selected’ Hill Sixteen, lightly raced this year and apparently targeted at this. His first time up performance at Kelso, when looking as if the race would help, was right up there in a very decent race behind Sounds Russian. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Kelso Premier Chase is used as a tune up.
As an aside, as last year at least one of the Elliott mob isn’t qualified yet.
February 24, 2023 at 12:53 #1636832The Bobbyjo Chase is always worth a look with a view to Aintree and tomorrow’s race could prove very informative with 6 likely National runners lining up. My eye keeps wandering to Carefully Selected, but I must discipline myself as I have now bet five with a further three ante-posts no longer going.
I suppose I’ll just have Carefully Selected tomorrow and hope Vanillier remembers how to jump a fence before topping up on him for Aintree
February 25, 2023 at 17:28 #1637025Well my plan to top up on Vanillier at 100/1 has well and truly gone down the pan! Ladbrokes boosting to 35/1 was as good as I could get.
Never learn
