We have a new leader!!!

With his nap Enable winning the King George V1 and Crystal Ocean second, Mtoto takes over from Gingertipster at the top of the table. Greenasgrass just misses out with nap Crystal Ocean, but also scores with her Wildcard Enable, putting her back in to third. Red Rum had the same one/two but neither napped. Pants napped Enable whilst Middle Of March was the only TRFer with both this week’s Group 1’s – Laurens taking the Prix Rothschild. Surprisingly only two entries for Laurens, Goodfellow the other. After Wildcard entries a total of seventeen of us scored with the great filly Enable.

Oh dear, after my Iridessa fiasco a while back, what’s far worse is I missed the Wildcard Window! Was away for a couple of days last week and found on returning that our internet connection was up the creek. While it’s back now (even though the engineer having been called failed to show up!) it’s still a bit dodgy.

Poor star-crossed Sea of Class is still starring in my list. I really, really need Cross Counter, Too Darn Hot and Hermosa to put their best feet forward and WIN this week!

Ah, that’s very unfortunate Nefertiti.
Can’t help you, but your plight has got me thinking about possible rule changes for 2020 – if we have another TTF next season.

Bit disappointing didn’t get more people taking up the Wildcard. If keeping it, might be worth opening the Wildcard Window earlier – a two week window might get more Wildcards. Just not enabling those Wildcards until King George day.

Also, having a “next best”, nominated before the competition starts that could take over the “star/nap” if the original nap is substituted out, injured or worse any time before the end of August. Can’t have it too late, otherwise Mtoto’s nap could win the Arc and then (as she’s retired) nap is changed to the Champion Stakes fav. That said, although might be fairer to all, might make things too complicated.

Thanks for your sympathetic responses. Good luck with your canny Wildcard, Jac. I don’t think anyone else has CM in their list.
And, Ginge, while those are potentially interesting tweaks to an excellent competition, wouldn’t they make managing the comp more difficult for you? It is disappointing that not everyone took up the Wildcard, but I guess some have lost interest if they felt they were too far back. Good luck with your tussle with Mtoto.

I really like this comp because, while it doesn’t take up much time (except yours, of course, Ginger), it gives an extra interest for the whole season. I for one love to see that leaderboard change and players from the back making their move. Thanks again for running it.
