The initial 113 entries were whittled down to a mere 63 this morning.
Haven’t spotted anything especially appealing in the betting yet but I’m partially interested in Orange Blossom who has had 3 career starts, all in pattern company. That alone suggests she’s very highly regarded and her 6th place finish in the Lowther is a decent effort for a 2nd racecourse start (although she failed to build on it last time). She’s currently 25/1 with SkyBet.
Only one horse has a chance of carrying 8st – Pass The Gin who hasn’t built on an easy Chester success. I was hoping he’d be neglected by the market but a best price of 16/1 isn’t really appealing for a 78-rated horse. At bigger prices, 100/1 shot Mayfair Spirit is one potential option (not sure whether he’ll get in). He made her debut in the same race as 9/1 chance Swissterious but gave him a 2 length beating (he also beat a experienced horse rated 84). He hasn’t really progressed but maybe heavy ground offered an excuse on handicap debut, hopefully the rain stays away should he get in.
The case for Summer Daydream is fairly obvious having finished 5th in the Firth Of Clyde and won on debut (both runs on heavy ground). She also gets to carry 8-9 and is currently 10/1. If there is any value in the race currently, it probably rests with her but this would be a first encounter with a 23-runner field, possibly a daunting prospect for a twice-raced horse.
October 1, 2018 at 21:35 #1376162Interesting race Krypton. I couldn’t possibly play Antepost, but having a look anyway.
I do quite like Rathbone, but not enough to have a bet right now.
October 2, 2018 at 15:42 #1376192I like WELL DONE FOX at 10/1 !!
And two outsiders that interest me are QUE AMORO 20/1 and CANAL ROCKS 100/1.
Just have a quick look at the Sandown race Canal Rock ran in and what price he was!!
And Que Amoro has ran behind some very useful horses this season too!!
October 4, 2018 at 13:05 #1376327Final decs are out (Mayfair Spirit got in) but I’ll probably wait until more firms have priced up before having a go. The 25/1 about Orange Blossom is tempting as is 12/1 about Summer Daydream. Will give the race a proper look tomorrow though.
October 4, 2018 at 23:55 #1376382Happy to play Rathbone now, and as much as I like him, I just think he’ll find one or two of them too good, so happy that Four Places are available, more than makes up for missing the 14’s.
Rathbone 12’s EW 4 Places
October 5, 2018 at 23:21 #1376470Orange Blossom 25/1 EW 5 places with Coral is my only bet in the race after Mayfair Spirit ran poorly at Wolverhampton this evening.
October 6, 2018 at 01:27 #1376497Topped up on the 5 Places myself Krypton, just in case Sky didn’t boost me from my 4 Places.
It’s a cracker of a race, and looking to add one more. The bad news is that I like the look of Orange Blossom myself, but the good news is, I also like the look of Caballero.
Good luck
October 6, 2018 at 12:00 #1376531Strict Tempo 12/1
Should’ve won LTO, got stuck behind horses then flew home to just get beat from Stay Classy who boosted the form running well behind Chaleur last weekend from a 7lb higher mark.
October 6, 2018 at 12:56 #1376537I like Strict Tempo as well Kev, but I’m another who likes Blossom, and 28-1 at 5 Places reels me in.
