Thanks Mike, happy with the prices so far, Pairofbrowneyes has more at 25’s than 50’s, but really can’t complain, although I’d have much preferred to see him not get a Topham entry.

My main fancies of Any Second Now & Sutton Manor, still look far too big, and I may go in again, while on his Thyestes run of last year, Champagne West is and outstanding price.

Bellshill is the one I really fear, along with Monbeg Notorious, General Principle, and Folsom Blue.

Ive had a good bet on GENERAL PRINCIPLE 33/1 EW. Should get in off 10 stone and think a claimer maybe Lisa O’neil will take the ride. Good luck all.

Saying Bellshill can’t win due to racing in predominantly small fields is not a good reason.
Our Duke only had 1 run in a 14+ runner field before he won.
    Bellshill has had 3.

Mike007- Its a reason i am giving for taking him on, as you will also see in my post, i did say he has the best form in the race. When a horse is a favourite in these big handicaps, i like to look into the horse and see whether he has anything that might make him vulnerable. He’s going to be in a big field off 158. 5pds higher than our duke.

I haven’t said he outright can’t win due to the small fields…

I’ve added a couple, as I should be able to green out on the race if Pairofbrowneyes does head here, as I expect the price to plummet even more, and if Any Second Now goes, I’d expect him to be single figures. Risky, but have to have a go at it.

    Added
    Fagan 33’s
    General Principle 33’s

No worries Jack your other reasons were valid I was just counterarguing that particular point.

PS, on looking back up, you’re on at 20s so that’s a lovely position regardless!

I have completely missed the price, but I will go with Bellshill at 9-1. In a race like this, I’ll throw in an outsider, but no idea right now. I’ll wait for the day maybe.

No concerns about Champagne West not going, but the absence of Any Second Now is a pain.

Doubt I’ll be laying off now, letting the three of them run (hopefully)

What happened Fagan? Horse not right, ground not right or another target?

Not read the whole thread so apologies if he’s been mentioned but does anyone like Scoir Mear?

He absolutely screams stayer to me and I don’t understand why he’s been running shorter than 3 Miles all career. Of course he’s a doubtful stayer with this extended trip but his run at Cheltenham last year was incredible. He was miles adrift swinging for Home and then flew up the hill for fifth. At the line he was doing double the speed of anything else. Could he be plotted for this? 25s is a good enough price to tempt me in.

Will probably play something else on the day.

Scoir Mear is a poor jumper. I’ve tracked him since that 5th in the Coral and he’s been trying a couple of times lately and just not been good enough. I’d be stunned if he was in the first 8 of this.

Grass, no idea about the official reason for Fagan, but the ground was certainly against him this week, and doubt it would be drying out enough for him by Monday.

MoM, must be touch and go for Scoir Mear, still needs another 13 to come out. GL if he gets in.

Cheers for that Kev and VTC.

Haven’t placed the bet yet thankfully so I’ll hold off to see if he gets in before backing him.

First reserve MoM, I’d fancy a withdrawal or two before the deadline.

The final decs are out. Added 1 more each way so I now have.

Monbeg Notorious 14s, Bellshill 20s. Added Snow Falcon 25s 5 places.

Good luck with your selections, as usual a minefield of a race. :good:
