Not a very big betting race for me usually, but I’ve taken a chance on Ex Patriot here.
Connections have stated that he’ll be heading here, and though that’s no guarantee, I think he’s worth the chance. His fourth to Defi Du Seuil in The Triumph last year would be respectable on it’s own, but when you take into account that he got rid of his rider on the way to start, and then bolted, then it really was a decent performance. He seems to have thrived for the step up in trip on his last two runs, winning at Limerick, and then making a race of it against Kilultagh Vic a few days later. The Stayers is reportedly the plan, and I’m hoping that he’ll trap here, as this should give connections a clear signal as to whether or not he should be going there. I could end up with egg on my face, but that price just looks wrong.
Ex Patriot 33’s Each Way
January 25, 2018 at 07:54 #1338948Ex patriot 33/1 e/w for me aswell vtc, the market leaders dont have the strongest form and im happy too look further down the field, looks like a race that will spring up a surprise, to me anyway
Ill be disappointed if he does not at least grab a place
Although i Will happily lose my money if it meant beer goggles would win.
January 25, 2018 at 12:20 #1338976The Worlds End for me but it is becoming a “cliff” horse for me!! 11/2
I have convinced myself that this horse is going to be a top top stayer and will probably go skint finding out it isn’t LOLGood Luck guys with Ex Pat
January 25, 2018 at 14:23 #1338991Thanks Raymo, and can I add another good luck for you Ham, I hope you have the winner lol
January 26, 2018 at 15:11 #1339179Beer Goggles to bring the house down
January 26, 2018 at 15:30 #1339184Finians Oscar @ 11/4 is good enough for me
Still love the horse. If he doesn’t win, I’m hopeful of a great run in defeat to keep my Cheltenham ‘any race’ slips alive.
January 26, 2018 at 17:58 #1339202As Finian’s Oscar is my star horse in Bobby’s 10 to follow I’m hoping that this return to hurdling will see him back at the top of his game again and it would be as emotional a result for the Potts family as it would be to see Beer Goggles romp home..
To see them all come home safely will be fine by me.. Good luck all Finian’s backers.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 26, 2018 at 23:16 #1339241I think Finian’s Oscar could be at the head of the Stayers’ market this time tomorrow night. Big engine in that horse and this might be his chance to show he can use it.
January 27, 2018 at 07:41 #1339283Another E/W Ex Patriot backer signing in.
A strange old price that one

GL all, nice race this one.
January 27, 2018 at 09:04 #1339303I too think Finian’s is a class act and can see him going close in a Gold Cup one day.
3/1 Finian’s Oscar
January 27, 2018 at 11:57 #1339367Respect those horses mentioned above but Beer Goggles at 8/1, could find a few more pounds of improvement, seems decent value.
January 27, 2018 at 11:57 #1339368Ground is a worry for quite a few in here including Finians & The Worlds End who are two horses I really like.
One that has handled the deep ground already at Cheltenham this season is Thomas Campbell and at 8/1 he looks a fair e/w bet.
Beer Goggles would obviously be incredibly apt but I can’t see it happening.
January 27, 2018 at 13:40 #1339405Agrapart 8/1 EW for me. Ran on well in the Relkeel and can cope with the these conditions. Also a little saver on Finians Oscar.
January 27, 2018 at 13:51 #1339411Ground in Agrapart’s favour just hope he doesn’t get outpaced coming down the hill like he did last time before really running on – although Finian’s Oscar has won on soft, I would be worried about him on heavy ground and stable not in form (2 wins from 10 runners in last 14 days).
January 27, 2018 at 16:50 #1339461Well done with Agrapart people. He’s one I can never catch right.
I did toy with Beer Goggles for this race but decided to leave it alone.
I was surprised Finian’s Oscar was 11/4. He was always in trouble last time and it was way more than just saying the trip was too short. It was a bad bit of placement by Tizzard then and coming back to hurdles suggested that the perennial mind changer Tizzard wasn’t sure what the hell he was doing (Just for a change) and the horse must have question marks going forward.
Colin Tizzard seemed to be walking on water as a trainer at one time but he is jumping from cow pat to cow pat at the moment. My confidence in Native River for the Grand National is evaporating with every tidal wave of excrement that is washing over Tizzard’s wellies currently.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 27, 2018 at 17:27 #1339467Well done with Agrapart DBDBR
January 27, 2018 at 18:24 #1339482Can’t say I’m not disappointed that Finian’s Oscar ran so badly today and pulled up but I am happy that they all came home safely and well done to all Agrapart supporters.

No idea where Finians will go next, he is still a young horse and needs to regain his confidence again perhaps a few visits from Yarmy might not go amiss, I don’t know
let’s hope he comes right for Cheltenham. Jac
