Can I just remind you, Joe, that Ultragold was second in the Grand Sefton last year so his Aintree form isn’t just in the spring. Tizzard said he was using this race to see if he did stay with a view to a tilt at the National itself so presumably he will be giving it a go.

Plenty of rain here on Merseyside and more forecast so I am with you on Regal Flow at a nice price.

Thanks Nenni – I should have stipulated ‘winning form’

Yes, I see Regal Flow being nibbled at. Tomorrow we get to find out how much heavy ground means to him. Such a fascinating sport!

Crosshue Boy is my biggest bet here, but I have also added Just A Par, to replace my early absentee, Fingerontheswitch.

A very strong field this year + it promises to be some race.

It really is some line up here, best I can remember for some time, and should be a cracker.

I’m not going to spend too much time looking for another selection here, there’s enough on the shortlist anyway, and I’ll take a small chance on Fine Theatre here at around 40’s, with seven places available.

Happy with VLR there. Came late from nowhere.

Sad to see Don Poli struggle in this grade at such an early stage, maybe time to call it a day with him as he doesn’t appear to be in love with the game.

This was only his 4th run in the last 2 yrs, so he obviously doesn’t appear to be the easiest to train either and it all seems so long ago that he finished 3rd to Don Cossack in a Gold Cup as a 7 yr old.

No TRF winning posters, sadly, unless JJM backed him.

Bobby, I forgot to thank you for another first class preview. Great work, as ever

He did, Raymo. Was okay over the first six or so then made a mistake and seemed to lose confidence. Having said that, looked like stamina was an issue too.

I went with ultragold, decent run. I’m not sure what they were trying to achieve on Vieux Lion Rouge. Looked a non trier but finished like a train. Hard to know what the handicapper will do to him with regard to a grand national weight

Thanks Joe, much appreciated. Would have been nice to have a good run to go with it, but mine got as far as second. Remarkably though, not even close to my worst selection today lol.

Nice winner though, great to see what it meant to the jock, and I’d obviously take him out of it, along with Noble Endeavour.
