That ride by Jacob on L’Ami Serge there…never even gave the horse a chance to go past. Went for a ridiculous always-narrowing gap up the inside. The sort of nonsense you’d expect from a 7lb claimer.

Complete dog of a horse who won’t go past anything. Not jockeys fault
January 21, 2017 at 16:18 #1283166Well that’s just a very stupid and very lazy conclusion. Went past Agrapart in the Relkeel and led going to the past in the JLT.
January 21, 2017 at 18:30 #1283205It’s very hard to get past The New One especially on soft ground, so wouldn’t give up on L’AS but he definitely wouldn’t be up to winning the Champion Hurdle.

Vet said, “L’Ami Serge lost his right fore shoe”
Daryl Jacob said, “He didn’t have much room after 2 out”
Nicky Henderson said, “A post-race endoscopic examination found blood in his trachea.”
L’Ami Serge said, “Woof”January 21, 2017 at 23:08 #1283233Good vibes about Annie P may suggest a bit of value in nrnb market at 2s. She won’t be risked unless she’s right but if she is right she gets to go here I feel (she’s the champ) and more importantly, she wins
January 23, 2017 at 14:59 #1283429Richard Johnson looks increasingly important to The New One’s ability. Considering Lami Surge was below form should’ve won a lot easier at the weekend. Sam doesn’t set a strong enough pace at 2m, can’t keep him straight and can’t get TNO jumping.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 23, 2017 at 19:00 #1283478With limini on course for the mares and faugheen and annies preps coming so close to the festival, becoming increasingly more possible that both annie and faugheen will line up in this together if they make it, cant see faugheen going stayers after a 2m prep, cant see annie going mares if there sounding keen on limini at home they wouldnt target her all year for it to throw annie in over the top of her
Thoughts?

Will almost never happen. In the instance it did – who would Ruby ride – Annie I reckon.
January 23, 2017 at 19:12 #1283480Willie is all for them running against each other. Rich Ricci isn’t and Ruby obviously isn’t either. We’ll see but would be great if they squared off
January 23, 2017 at 20:44 #1283487Both fit and running to their best faugheen would win no doubt
January 23, 2017 at 21:26 #1283496Both fit and running to their best faugheen would win no doubt
Both had free reign in front and Annie Power ran 5 seconds quicker on softer ground.

Times for championship races are really irrelevant. 5 seconds doesn’t mean anything. Both had free reign but Annie decided to go faster, that doesn’t mean faugheen couldn’t have gone faster. Also the field faugheen beat was vastly superior than the one Annie beat

I agree re the relevance of time but the fact is she broke the track record and jumps better than Faugheen. Mullin’s said last year ‘maybe she should have run in this race two years ago, but that’s in the past now’.
January 24, 2017 at 09:19 #1283545With the 7 pound allowance I’d say Annie will take it.
If they are gonna put all their eggs in the Limini basket for The Mares they are risking losing their 8 year stranglehold on that race. They wont want Elliot taking it with Apples Jade. You would have thought Vroum Vroum or Annie would be going there but if he trusts Limini to get the job doine in The Mares race against Apples Jade then all of a sudden there are more options.
Annie – Champion Hurdle, Faugheen – Stayers, Limini – Mares, Vroum Vroum – Ryanair?
You could see Rich Ricci wanting to win as many races as possible. Willie knows he has Un De Sceaux for The Ryan Air. If one horse gets injured (Douvan for example) then UDS to CC, Vroum to Ryanair, Limini – Mares, Faugheen – Stayers, Annie – CH. If Douvan and UDS make the CC and Ryan Air respectively then I’d say Willie will have to make a call on Limini; is she good enough to beat Apples Jade?
I think he’d rather win the Stayers and the Champion Hurdle anyway but he wont want to lose the Mares.
To sum up; who knows? I still reckon his first choice is Annie to CH, Faugheen to Stayers and Vroum to Mares but if Annie is even 1% off her best then Faugheen – CH, Annie – Mares, Vroum – Stayers..
This is giving me a headache
January 24, 2017 at 10:21 #1283549Just cant see him committing either to any other race, keeps mentioning yorkhill coming bsck to CH and is sliding in the factor that annie and faugheen are “getting on a bit” i think he wil run bith in the CH then retire them at the end of the season, vroum vroum to the stayers, limini the mares, yorkhill back to CH next year to fill the void
January 25, 2017 at 10:09 #1283694Annie Power apparently out of Cheltenham
Blackbeard to conquer the World
