The odds have nothing to do with their decision, Stilvi.
I also don’t think JP was the instigator of the decision.
February 1, 2017 at 17:22 #1285184Taken the 33/1 each way for MTOY
Race looks like it’ll cut up badly. MTOY will run here 100% if fit. Ran a cracker on reappearance in this race last year.
Also took the 2/1 on Faugheen immediately after the race last year assuming he’d come back fit and raring to go. He hasn’t. It’s only in a multi but frustrating the first three in that went in on the flat. Would love to see him win but it’s a big ask from Mullins to get him race fit to win a champion hurdle.
This really is cutting up dramatically.
You could’ve said a few months ago that all of these would be involved: Faugheen, AP, Altior, The New One, Yanworth, MTOY, Yorkhill
Unlikely even half of those take part and the each way part of MYOY is a solid bet I think. Well done to those on at bigger odds than myself. He’s just so consistent.
February 1, 2017 at 18:08 #1285193Yanworth odds slightly settling now on betfair perhaps indicates that it is just a minor setback
February 1, 2017 at 18:15 #1285196Some proper morons in that yard if they’re laying 25 as a result of a tiny setback
February 1, 2017 at 18:31 #12851978.6 on betfair now
February 1, 2017 at 18:35 #1285198Yeah, but he hit 25
February 1, 2017 at 19:07 #1285205Not to mention the fact that Alan King was woefully out of form by the time the last festival came around and the rest of his horses ran like drains all week…
That’d be standard Festival Alan King. If he’s not injuring his horses, he’s getting them beat.
Just call me ‘The Prophet’
Over the last few years on these pages I’ve heard people saying the same thing about Nicholls, Henderson, McCain, Meade, Elliott and Mullins. Horses are not machines and aren’t prophet making. Profit yes, not prophet.

Rumour has it MTOY is bound for the county hurdle. JP is stacked to the brim in this race as it stands.
February 1, 2017 at 20:50 #1285218There’s a smell on the machine tonight,5/4 fav ‘Faugheen is trading at 7/2 and that can only mean one thing….
February 1, 2017 at 20:59 #1285219The smell gets worse, now out to 5/1, another setback???
February 1, 2017 at 21:01 #1285220that can only mean one thing….
I can see the headlines already.. Is now the time to make a move on Yorkhill?

JP’s got a couple in the county that have caught my eye. Hargam and Ivanovich Gorbatov. Both been campaigned with this in mind. Now rated 146 (u.k) and 148 (irish) respectively.

I’m amazed Yorkhill didn’t get an entry…Just in case the impossible happened, both ‘Annie’ and ‘faugheen’ never made it.

Campeador wins the County hurdle for JP.

Has trouble getting over the last
February 1, 2017 at 21:17 #1285226Thats A Wrap is the one that catches my eye, a progressive handicapper off a mark of 127 trained by Tom Millins, bearing in mind the Irish have won 8 of the last 13 runnings. He does seemingly have a preference for softer ground though, that being the main concern. I’d like to see a market form on the exchanges first before I can try and discern where the value might be.

Mullins was interviewed a couple of weeks ago, may have only been last week, and I quote him here: I could go back hurdling in a flash. I’m surprised I even went novice chasing with him this year.”
We know Mullins is not afraid to supplement a super sub and lately his usual suspect VVM doesn’t seem to have it in her to win a Champion Hurdle (although I wouldn’t write her off just yet). If Yorkhill runs he wins, seems like such an easy decision.
