Hey! Well done Charles – wonderful stuff. Must have been a real thrill on the run-in!

    Anyone else back it?

    Ginge always wins. B-)

Splash Of Ginge wins another big one. Come down 17 lbs in the handicap. A Timeform squiggle horse! Twister’s done a good job getting Ginge’s enthusiasm back by returning to hurdles last season. Ran a much better race on reappearance and obvious at halfway he was jumping with the old gusto today. How long it’ll last remains to be seen.

Needless to say – like the Betfair Hurdle – this “Ginge” didn’t have a penny on.

    Well done Charles! :good:

You know when you have one of those days where just nothing can go right? Well I’ve had a lot of them, and I mean a lot but then along come these days and the opposite happens and you’re just left wondering.

I hate to break the news, but I’ve also just backed Coole Cody to win at 28/1 (my nap in the 4PP comp). I just don’t know how because I’ve been in terrible form the past week. Look at the 3 I backed in the November H’cap last week (Sir Chauvelin – last, Mirsaale – miles behind and Niblawi – well beaten) and at Sandown last Sunday I backed 3 horses who all finished dead last in their respective races and then here come along winners at 50/1, 28/1, 12/1 and 11/1 in the space of 2 hours.

I can only apologise, I’m really not that brilliant a punter.

Well it takes a bit of nerve not to follow the herd and back those long ones.
Just keep surfing the wave :good:

A day from the Gods, Mister Olney, and one you’re very unlikely to forget. Well done.

Got back late from shopping and Mike told me how awful the going was so I put my usual 2pence ew on the bottom weights. And was greeted with ‘I hope you backed Perfect Candidate’ [he knows I follow Fergal] and I had. Missed Jennies Jewel at Uttoxeter, though. Keep forgetting that today was Mackeson day, though [wish they’d keep the original name somewhere!]. Hadn’t realised how much it had been raining in Cheltenham, as it’s been bone dry in the EM’s. When we went to the Mackeson years ago it was absolutely freezing, but Greatwood day was cold but sunny, as we walked to the top of Cleeve Hill and looked down on the racecourse.

    Well done, Charles !

Like a few others I thought about him but cast him aside. Saw him travelling well in the dip before the turn for home and thought “ Oh ****. “

I was a tad puzzled about Geraghty’s ride on Le Prezien. He was just better than mid div but then dropped him to the last two or three at the top of the hill. Stayed on well to more than halve the deficit but it was too late. Maybe he saved enough to get him mount home, maybe it was misjudged.
I’ll give him the benefit and thank him for getting me a place.

A certainty in an 18 runner handicap chase on testing ground? hmmmm

Hope you’re right: I’ve bet him too, I admire your optimism!

It is very rare for me to be optimistic Brixton, years of betting levels you, but I was today. It was sadly misplaced optimism.

I have bigger bets than usual at this meeting + on top of politologue it was a costly race
