Explain to me how Modus is a bet at 9s? He finished 3/4L 3rd behind Sternrubin at Ascot 2 months ago getting 6lbs. Now he’s getting 1lb yet Sternrubin is 16s. I think Modus is horrendous value at the prices.
Well I’ve explained to you why I fancy him Zark, and I notice you haven’t mentioned
on the thread what you fancy, but I’ll give you my view of it again, and if you don’t
fancy him that’s fair enough, don’t bet him.You are right that Modus was indeed receiving 6lbs from Sternrubin at Ascot in October,
and that he was beaten 3/4L. I think, and it’s just my opinion, that he was unlucky, in
that he left himself too much to do coming from last, before making very eye catching ground
to be nearest at the finish. In his subsequent run in the Greatwood at Cheltenham last month,
he showed improved form (IMO), beaten just 1/2L behind North Hill Harvey. In that race he was
receiving even more from Sternrubin, 8lbs, and finished 10L in front of Sternrubin. To me that
is improved form, and it seems the handicapper agrees as he has Modus running off a mark of 145,
whereas Sternrubin is running off 144.I’m a big fan of Sternrubin, I think he is a cracking horse, I just think that Modus has improved
a great deal and he’s my idea of the winner. If I’m wrong and Sternrubin turns the form round again
I’ll have no problem with that. As I said Zark, it’s just my opinion.December 17, 2016 at 01:44 #1277479Fair enough. I think Sternrubin is a ridiculous bet at 16s myself. Ridiculously difficult day’s racing. I’ve probably got far too involved.
December 17, 2016 at 01:56 #1277482No problem Zark, some days they can just burst your balls. The Ladbroke…or Wessex thingy whatever,
is always a nightmare, but great to watch none the less. Good luck with whatever you plump for
tomorrow, or I should say today now…..night night all
December 17, 2016 at 09:07 #1277507Charles, I was typing my speel up when you posted yours about Modus, I’m in full
agreement with you, I think he’s in with a good shout. Well done MOM getting the 10/1 on him
I backed him in both of his decent efforts this year and 100% agree with you in that he looks like improvement will come.
Topped up again at the 8searlier but now see he is beginning to drift. 9s in a place now.
December 17, 2016 at 10:11 #1277527Well I have backed 2 horses to win, Quick Jack (14/1) who is consistent & has a talented 7lb claimer aboard and Consul De Thaix (9/1) who will come on from reappearance & benefit from test ensured by certain strong pace.
Main dangers: Brain Power but Nicky favours CDT & BP has to back up improved mental attitude & better jumping shown at Sandown; Golden Spear, has become ridiculously short and HAS to find 8lbs of improvement (as on Flat) to justify price. The Flat improvement has to a degree come when upped in trip so may need further than 15.5 to fully replicate over hurdles – may find some but that wouldn’t give him a clear edge and I don’t rate the claimer on board.
Sternrubin & Waxie’s Dargle look pretty solid.
Ones I don’t fancy: Who Dares Wins, form of last time overrated; Modus, don’t see where he will find enough improvement; Meet The Legend, similar to Modus even though this a target & trainer has won similar events with Superb Story & North Hill Harvey so risky to oppose; Jolly’s Cracked It needs to improve 8lbs after a years absence & trainer’s horses have been coming on for a run.
December 17, 2016 at 11:13 #1277543Well I was wrong about Willows Saviour coming down in price so I have had a few more pounds on today at 33-1 and also Quick Jack at 14-1
December 17, 2016 at 11:17 #1277545Am already on Fergall ante post and have just backed the Hendo pair BRAIN POWER 18/1
and CONSUL DE THAIX 9/1.
IMO they are both overpriced!! Golden Spear is a silly price now for a race like this but Tony Martin does perform the occasional miracle!!
December 17, 2016 at 12:04 #1277560Backed Rayvin Black E/W 66/1 6 places.
Good luck everyone today
December 17, 2016 at 12:44 #1277569Just tuned into watch the 12.40 at Ascot with Bet365 on my pc, I’ve bet
Desert Sensation, but reason i’m posting this is the fog is so bad the cameras
can’t see them at the start
I hope it clears up and doesn’t threaten the meeting.December 17, 2016 at 13:05 #1277576Have backed STERNRUBIN and JOLLYS CRACKED IT. There seems to have been very little mention of JCI on here but given last years race if you fancy stern then JCI must also come into the reckoning
December 17, 2016 at 15:46 #1277618That looked the most competitive handicap of the season but Brain Power absolutely destroyed them. Champion Hurdle out of the question?
December 17, 2016 at 18:11 #1277651He did that nicely, well done Raymo + Fran the man. I had him as well, and just happy to finally have a winner on here
December 17, 2016 at 21:55 #1277688Definitely stilvi, think he’s a player for sure, though just a season too early for me, I was planning on him for next season
December 17, 2016 at 21:59 #1277689Aaargh, it’s all about timing Fran, and I am not a happy boy tonight. One of the last horses I removed from my Ten To Follow, and I thought long and hard a month ago, about adding him to The Champion Hurdle Market on Betfair. Gutted. At least I can forget about him for The County haha………back to the drawing board

Well done on your win, and what a price.
Well done also to Raymo & Buckers, a great price for you all guys, and a very nice horse
December 17, 2016 at 22:12 #1277693Wd winners, Good Hos that one.
December 17, 2016 at 23:01 #1277699Thanks all and Bobby had the exacta and trifecta up!!
The way it won last time was the sign for me this was a good horse and who knows where he goes now!!
Great day in the raymo house and that is Chrimbo sorted!!
December 17, 2016 at 23:52 #1277704Well done Raymo, Fran and Buckers, that’s a nice one just before Christmas
