Well just had my last bet on this years King George,a £100 win Thistlecrack with Stan James at 5/1 and Win lose or draw I’m not taking any other prices now.I pray Colin Tizzard doesn’t do a Willie Mullins and pull him out when he goes off at 2/1 as Colin is everything Willie aint when it comes to PR.If we do get a run I will certainly be in a position to lay off should I feel the need as this fellow has to go odds-on in running at some point, with over £2k returns I could lay him for a Grand at 4/6 to lose £750 of the potential returns of £2300 for a guaranteed £1100 profit and then cheer home my Cue card at 8/1.TAPK’s not as daft as he looks eh Ginge? B-)………?

Did TAPK’s Boxing Day lunch menu turn someone else’s stomach ?
December 5, 2016 at 06:49 #1275783I think Coneygree should improve for his run, though I never like to abandon Cue Card. Definitely one to savour and enjoy. Shaping up like a racing fans dream!

Very good Mark but I think it was Ginge calling me a ‘hypocrate’…..His spellings as bad as mine.
December 5, 2016 at 12:46 #1275802I imagine it’s the constant mention of certain bookmakers and their prices was the reason this thread got reported, as that could be seen as advertising.
But who knows.
December 5, 2016 at 17:10 #1275833Thistlecrack now quoted with a run. Best price 4/1 without.
December 6, 2016 at 12:34 #1275894Did Tea For Two damage his chances for this in any way on Sunday by running second over an inadequate trip? He’s still 20/1 in places and given most above him in the betting are unlikely starters in my opinion (Thistlecrack, Douvan, Valseur Lido, Vroum Vroum Mag) and Coneygree may still head to Ireland over Christmas, this seems a decent each-way shout. I took the 7/1 last month for Cue Card to win both the Haydock race and this so am happy enough with that but I just think a small each-way bet to cover some (not all) of the losses if Cue Card falls or get’s done on the line if TFT gets placed wouldn’t be a bad idea.
December 6, 2016 at 15:08 #1275903Tea For Two looks an attractive EW at 20s on the face of it, but if Tizzard’s two turn up, you’d think he’s playing for 3rd only.
Still, the upside of Thistlecrack running, as has been mentioned, is that not many other will be there competing for 3rd place and TFT’s Kempton record – unbeaten in 3 runs, the last one the Feltham, should stand the horse in good stead. He ran well on Sunday and they’d have left a bit to work on.
BTW, I just watched that race for the first time. Josses Hill is now jumping as though someone told him his balls have been put back in. If he’s as good going left handed, he’ll have a sound chance in the Ryanair.
December 6, 2016 at 22:30 #1275924I have had a very rare ante post bet on SILVIANO CONTI for this at 50/1 E W . For a 2 times winner of this race
he is well overpriced particularly as the race is likely to cut upDecember 6, 2016 at 23:01 #1275927That’s a great price Orchid, good luck
December 7, 2016 at 16:34 #1275973Thanks VTC and for your in depth analysis of races

he is well overpriced particularly as the race is likely to cut upDidn’t perform with much of his old zing in the Betfair. I know Cue Card is the same age, but Silvi seems to be showing his years now. Going to Ireland for reappearance wasn’t encouraging either, doubt connections would’ve done that had they thought SC was as good as ever… And would a dual King George winner have even been entered in the Lexus as an alternative Christmas option if they thought he’s as good as ever?
However, there’s a price for all horses that’s worth taking, so @ 50/1 wouldn’t put you off at that price, Racingorchid… And if new headgear was used (visor instead of blinkers perhaps?) I’d probably be interested myself! Best run last season when blinkers used for the first time and getting the lead at Ascot. Do believe he’s best with a view of the front these days too. Travelled well (kept out wide, away from rivals) at Haydock – until the last bend when had no choice but to come back in behind leaders. Age catching up with him is imo the most likely reason for a disappointing effort. However, there are other possible alternatives. Maybe is now too used to the headgear? And/or needs longer to get fit? And/or needs a clear view of the front? Trouble is unless Coneygree, Thistlecrack and Douvan are all absentees… is unlikely to get his own way infront here either.
Value Is EverythingDecember 7, 2016 at 18:26 #1275979Nicholls when contacted last week by RP:
Silviniaco Conti is a dual winner of the race. We’ll see how he is over the next couple of weeks and then make a decision. If the King George looks like being mega-hot then we may go elsewhere. We’re really open-minded on what we’ll do. I’d say he’s 50-50 to run in it. I’ve left Dodging Bullets in there too. He goes to Huntingdon on Sunday for the Peterborough Chase.
December 7, 2016 at 20:26 #1275991Dodging Bullets is another of Nicholls horses where it’s fairly obvious from races he’s gone for this season just isn’t the horse of old.
Value Is EverythingDecember 7, 2016 at 20:35 #1275992DB a classic non-stayer to my eye. Mark. Don’t know why they’re persevering at these longer trips unless Nich has some handicap in mind away down the line
December 8, 2016 at 11:42 #1276044Thanks for the feedback , the Haydock run was its first on heavy ground and clearly didn’t act on it. Of course theres a chance he won t run but that’s factored into the price and why I m willing to take the chance , Corals are only 20/1. I m hoping that Nicholls will let him take his opportunity at Kempton to go for a third win in the race. Cue Card is a worthy favourite but 11/8 ? Similarly Thistlecrack is underpriced for a novice ‘ albeit a very good one in a race as hot as this . My second bet will be on Coneygree once the NRNB signs go up , 11/2 is available now but I suspect it could get bigger should Thistlecrack run. Goog luck to all
December 8, 2016 at 12:52 #1276047Yes I’m waiting for the NRNB too…can’t stomach any more ante post heartbreak, had enough of that these last 12 months!
Can’t believe the Bradstock’s are even thinking about Ireland and the Lexus! THIS is his race! Said it for years now…
