Done four of these as usual: Folsom Blue @ 28, Russe Blanc @ 28, Bless The Wings @ 16 and Riverside City @ 50..
I suspect I used up my luck in this race though when I had a purple patch with Hear The Echo (08), Niche Market (09) and Bluesea Cracker (10).
March 28, 2016 at 09:34 #1240104All the money for Bonnie Kate, as short as 6s
March 28, 2016 at 09:39 #1240105Captain Von Trappe has been prepped for something and hopefully this is it,has only shown his quality in patches but i think he is better than his mark.
Earlier in the season in the Drinmore he really caught my eye, jumped like a seasoned pro and just didn’t have the pace come the business end,he went off the boil a bit after that until his 2nd last run when running an eyecatching race in first time blinkers before running a bit of a stinker on heavy last time but i can forgive that run as things didn’t go his way that day and i don’t think that was his main aim anyway.I expected him to run in a handicap at the festival but he didn’t go and i suspect this could’ve been the plan for a while and i want to see him handy and using them springs he had in his feet in the Drinmore and have little doubt about him staying the trip having won a point to point and at 40/1 5 places he’ll be my e/w squeak.
March 28, 2016 at 12:08 #1240134Mala Beach and Another Hero for a bit of interest
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 28, 2016 at 13:32 #1240145Cause Of Causes has been withdrawn. I’ve not read an explanation yet
March 28, 2016 at 14:27 #1240162Good news for me G, as I was worried I was going to be wrong for leaving him out. There’s no way this was part of the plan for the horse, and no big shock.
I’ve layed Bonny Kate at 7.6’s to 7.8’s for good a profit on the race, and left myself with a few quid should she win, and I’ve also layed Another Hero at 9’s. Not too often it goes as well as this.
I’ve half a mind to follow Fran in on Captain Von Trappe, or the other Giggs runner, Wrath of Titans, they still look attractive at the prices, but having 3 running for me, all free of charge thanks to Kate and Hero, I might just leave it there.
Doesn’t matter anyway, as every time I leave a Kerry Lee horse alone, it wins, so Russe Blanc should do it lol
March 28, 2016 at 14:57 #1240167If you’r risk free, it’s not a bad place to stop Bobby, well done on that

I’d be quite happy if you’re right with Russe Blanc, and I was glad to see the
going changed to yielding/soft. I’m hopeful that that one along with VENITIAN DE MAI
and RIVERSIDE CITY gives me a shout.March 28, 2016 at 17:01 #1240177Great selection with Ballyadam
I hope you did him each way. His stamina just gave out in the end.Cracking call at 100’s though
March 28, 2016 at 17:04 #1240178Well that turned out to be the nightmare it usually is, but crongrats to
Mouse Morris having him spot on, and well done to Ger Fox who gave Rogue
Angel a peach of a ride. The only thing I got right in my write up, was……
“This isn’t going to go down well in a few quarters, but I think CAUSE OF CAUSES, and his
highly rated buddies ie topweight down to THUNDER AND ROSES, can save themselves a drive
to the course and stay in their nice warm stables. The last time any horse won the Irish
Grand National carrying more than 11st was 16 years ago, and that was no less than COMMANCHE
COURT.”The highest weighted that got home was 10-7.
Riverside City was beaten before the 1st, very unlike Nina Carberry to get caught like that.
Russe Blanc was never in contention, and Venitian De Mai flattered for a while. My strategy for next year is to pick something under 11st, and that I don’t fancy
March 28, 2016 at 19:08 #1240186Happy with 2nd and 4th from my four. Wrong Mouse Morris one though – I’d had Rogue Angel marked down for a big hcap for ages – backed him in 2014 Troytown and quite possibly in this last year – but thought he’d had his day in Sept at Listowel – interestingly that was the last time Ger Fox rode..
March 29, 2016 at 06:51 #1240209Another 50 yards and Bless would have nicked it, however happy with 2nd and 3rd from the 4 I backed

Another 45 mile and i don’t think he’d have nicked it personally, 2 contrasting animals, one willing to give it all and won’t hear of defeat whereas the other continually proves he doesn’t have much of a stomach for a battle.

Very harsh
March 29, 2016 at 11:55 #1240242Agree that is harsh. Remember it is less than 2 weeks since BTW ran a very creditable 3rd in the Festival X Country. Also backed 2nd and 4th but well done to connections of and those who backed RA.
