Lovely post, Bos – thanks
Thanks, Joe. Although I would like to clarify that the horse is ‘Generous Ransom’ not ‘General Ransom’ HaHa. I had a Willie ‘Flame And Glory’ Carson moment
This guy is a machine. All he does is work out and pick winners. Talk about fit. You should see him without his shirt off, serious side of beef.
November 11, 2015 at 23:02 #1221256John’s Spirit is the only one which stands out.
I’ve already wagered the winnings on Un De Sceaux.
good luck guys.Blackbeard to conquer the World
November 12, 2015 at 13:21 #1221315Double Ross runs, as well as IC Bobby, good luck
November 12, 2015 at 14:13 #1221323Excellent news Joe, thanks.
No bet on Irish Cavalier, can’t bet em all, although I fancy him strongly.
I’ll just have to concentrate on Double Ross
Now just to avoid the result until Saturday Night/Sunday Morning, as I’ve got a Wedding to go to on Saturday…………..a wedding on Paddy Power Day, less than amused
November 12, 2015 at 14:38 #1221328I’m sure Paddy would be delighted with the PR opportunity to pipe live commentary through the church speakers – give ’em a call…
Cue Benny Hill type comments like ‘They’re off! ‘Laying’ ‘Asking her up’ etc, :)

He has ‘The’ profile of a Paddy Power winner, doesn’t he VtC?
I’m afraid he falls into my ‘can’t bet ’em all category’ too! I can’t ignore how better off at the weights Generous Ransom is for their Festival efforts last season, and if you fancy GR, you must put Cocktails at Dawn bang there.
Watch the little bugger bolt up! :-D

November 12, 2015 at 16:39 #1221342I put a fairly big screed about this in October, and whittled it
down to IRISH SAINT and BUYWISE, and had a bit on both at 20/1.
IRISH SAINT managed to get himself crocked, but thankfully
BUYWISE still stands his ground. He is best priced 16/1 at the moment (BET365) but generally
14/1.I think a great deal of him, including him in my TTF in VENTURE TO
COGNAC’s competition. He takes well to Cheltenham, winning a Grade 2
h’cap there last April. He ran well enough in this last year, making
a couple of mistakes and getting behind, before running on for 7th.
He was also a good running on 4th over 2m 5f at the Festival this
year.I reckon that this has been the aim since last year, and I think
that his “running on at the death” 3rd in the OLD ROAN CHASE last
month, where he looked like he needed the race slightly, will put
him spot on for this.I think that 16/1 is real e/w value, or take 14/1 e/w with PP for the
1st 5.Best of luck.
November 12, 2015 at 16:56 #1221344I cant go past Johns spirit for this,he caught me out when he won it 2 yrs ago but proved last year he deserves his current mark. His effort in the King George only emphasises his ability to me.What I’ve always said about the Paddy Power is Class horses can carry the weight and this fellow is physically built to do just that too.History has shown the stat Horses for courses applies to the Mackeson/Paddy Power Gold cup and ‘Johns spirits’ name sits well with the likes of ‘Very Promising’ ‘Half Free’,’Bradbury Star’ and ‘Cyfor Malta’.TAPK has snaffled the 23’s down and has taken 10/1 e/w to 5 places too.
Dangers;- This is where I love to tempt making a fool of myself but the Fav ‘Kings Palace’ cant jump at pace, his victories are all in races ran to suit him, this one wont be!
‘Boondooma’ just isn’t good enough and is 2nd fav based on a course victory over 2m,this 21/2m trip will test him in this company
‘Oscar Rock’ is another priced up on one run,he too is simply not good enough imo.
One who could/should run a big race is ‘Buywise’,Course form is a massive bonus at Cheltenham and this fellow has the ability to run a massive race if he can just keep tabs!
If ‘Irish Cavalier’ had 5lb less he’d be my main danger but I cant see a single horse to worry Jonjo’s big lad if he gets round….Here’s hoping that TAPK’s bullishness pays off,its been known too!November 12, 2015 at 17:19 #1221348Gord, who’s paying 5 places? I might add Turn Over Sivola EW

Bet365 and Skybet are going 33/1 to 5 places about your horse Joe.Is he a confirmed runner as some dont quote him?
November 12, 2015 at 17:33 #1221352Gord, who’s paying 5 places? I might add Turn Over Sivola EW
Joe, I mentioned in my post, just before TAPK’s post, that Paddy Power were
going e/w the 1st 5. I now see that several have jumped on that
particular bandwagon and now BET365, SKYBET, BETVICTOR and WILLIAM HILL all
go e/w the 1st 5. You can get 33/1 with a few of those.Good luck
November 12, 2015 at 17:36 #1221353Oops, TAPK you posted to Joe whilst I was slowly typing up, I’ll
need to improve my typing technique.November 12, 2015 at 17:56 #1221355Thanks Gord and BigG
Looks like he’s a reserve, Gord. Didn’t know they had them in this…
If ground is good, I’ll add Darna too – unbeaten over fences on good ground when completing (4 from 5), but, like my old cash cow Albertas Run – good seems to be essential for optimum form. K Bailey flying high too, so tempting at 20s, though I still think my original long range fancy is well overpriced, possibly because of the very poor record of northern yards here – Oscar Rock: am certain he’ll run a huge race
November 12, 2015 at 18:02 #1221356Thanks Gord and BigG
“but, like my old cash cow Albertas Run ”
Didn’t know you were an Albertas Run fan Joe…When I first joined this forum I was singing this horses praises and got slated for it….He who laughs last and that saw me nail him at 90’s for his first Ryanair and 25’s for his 2nd…He was robbed on his 3rd!
November 12, 2015 at 19:11 #1221377Irish Cavalier really does appeal Bos, but although I don’t mind building a small book for some races, the Paddy Power is normally only a 1, maybe 2 horse betting race for me if I can help it, so it’s all on Double Ross, and it’s a fair lumpy EW for me

I used to go mad at Timeform about him when they gave him a squiggle. I pointed out that all he wanted was proper good ground. One of those rare horses who absolutely had to have it good. But many thought him a dog and I made a right few quid just betting him on good ground. In a sublime piece of placing by JonJo, he went to Ascot for The Amlin in 2009 getting weight from horses 20lbs inferior to him, on good ground, at 8/1…Glory ! Glory!

Yes You and me both,I used to slate Timeform for robbing the public, still makes me laugh how Jim Mcgrath still refers to them as though their opinions are gospel,he blocked me on Twitter for reminding him how over the top he went with ‘Celtic Swing’ in his Timeform appraisal,he cant take criticism that fellow but smirks when someone else gets slated.
