Oh no, I hope not Moehat.

Beshabar is quoted by most of the major bookies for both races and Tim Vaughan is advertising shares in the horse, so it seems like it is all systems go for now. Fingers crossed…

Am a big fan of Monbeg Dude as a horse, did me a favour in the Welsh National. Whether he’s an Aintee type not so sure. Jumping has improved since Chepstow, but still not as good as I’d like to see. Tends to leave back legs behind. Even considering the Aintree changes wouldn’t be the sort I’d normally back for the race at current price. However, with connections, Scu riding for Scu with Scu writing about him, with owner an ex-rugby England Captain and being taught to jump those "formidable" fences by the Queen’s beautiful grandaughter… This year every newspaper will be all about The Dude. Public money will be for one horse and almost certain to shorten dramatically in the weeks and days leading up to the race…

A back to lay for a "free bet" if ever there was one.

Just hope with all the publicity he does not end up having the same fate as Synchronised.

Well, I’ve backed the Dude, Tidal Bay and Shakalakaboomboom this week [although had a panic tonight when I lost my Monbeg bet; found it in my coat pocket; phew]. Couldn’t get a price for The Minack, though.

Not sure if hes entered and maybe one to aim at future nationals but I really liked how Unioniste stayed on today, Aintree may be right up his street especially if Long Run and Tidal turned up giving him a nice weight.

If i wasn’t so convinced that Roberto Goldback simply doesn’t like Aintree, i’d be really excited by his run at Doncaster today  His staying on at the end was a good sign considering the ground was not in his favour. Just seems the handicapper has his number.

I’ve already had my money on Tidal Bay, along with most on here, I think history is calling him, he would be a legend.

My other, Seabass, has been conspicuous by his absence. No prep run so far and no entries showing other than his possible entry for the Grand National. Last run was June last year at Auteuil. I can’t find any news on him and haven’t heard any whispers that he is not sound. His campaign last year, unlike previous, did start in early February (not sure that he didn’t have a hiccup prior to that). Anyone have any idea what’s happening with him?

G, last I heard, which I think was in late November, it was all systems go for Aintree, and they were struggling to find races for him, as they didn’t feel he was good enough for the top races.

He still got an entry for The Lexus, and after being entered for The Grand Sefton, you could assume he remains sound.

They’re maybe just holding back with him now to protect his mark.

Many thanks VTC, I had just checked using the racingpost site but could not see any entries. I’m glad to hear that he had entries which would indicate he is in good fettle.

We spoke before about Seabass, I know you are a follower of him too and we both did quite well with him in the 2012 race. Last year remains a bit of a mystery to me, finishing tamely, but I still think (or hope) that he could be a National winner.

Cheltenham just around the corner and the National looming…..I love this time of year :D

I think it’s written in the stars for Tidal Bay ,love the horse so much he’s in both my ten to follow lists ,pity i don’t back him when it matters  . I would be adding Triolo D,alene and Soll i think at this point . Would love to see Always Waining given a final shot if the sun is shining and it’s fast . Just a pity his day of glory was taken away from him in "11 by Phil Smith :x

They’ve finally announced that Beshabar has been retired; why does it take so long for trainers to give out this sort of information?

I think Colbert Station is worth another chance, was in the hunt when unseating and will have less weight this year. AP will have a raft of decent McManus horses to choose from but it would speak volumes if he opts for CS again. 20/1 isn’t a wonderful price at this early stage but is my number one at the moment.

PN suggesting Rocky Creek may be heading here, he intrests me I think if he ran to his Henessey form he could easily run into a place.

Watched last years race again just now the only one id take out of it would be Teaforthree he ran a great race.

Ive backed On His Own in the previous two Nationals, may be slightly controversial writing this but Id only consider backing him again if Townend got the ride for me he gets more out the horse than Walsh.

Sad to see that the Besh has been retired. Back to the drawing board for me again.

Colbert Station went out like a light at the weekend, Rich. I’d be surprised if it was just down to a lack of fitness.
