The thing I don’t understand about PC is the idea that if they’re not happy with him, he’ll go in the Jewson. Surely he needs to be 100% wherever he goes?
Good Point Rosey, I’m of the opinion ‘Donalds gone quackers’ if the horse isn’t right he shouldn’t run,not we’ll go for the easier option anyway! Peddlers will never be a natural Leper as we say in Ireland and I reckon he’s one of those who’s got faller written all over him! No I’m afraid I see a White flag flying over this ones Arkle participation.I was always taught never to be afraid of one enemy,so long as they are not tooled up to the gunnels that is and this ‘Sprinter Sacre’ might look hard but I can see a gaping weakness and I’ll exploit it with my WMD named ‘Alfred’!

I don’t think they’re dodging anyone or aiming for a weaker race – it sounds like they desperately need the extra 48 hours in the hope the horse is fit enough.
March 4, 2012 at 23:00 #394855Can’t jump well enough at a fast pace. That is why they are going to the Jewson. He is a future staying chaser not a 2 miler.
March 5, 2012 at 22:43 #394959Looks like there will only be 5 runners.
Anyone each way at fancy odds are sitting pretty. Cue Card was a good tip by Steeplechasing when it was 20/1 and had done nothing wrong.
March 6, 2012 at 11:52 #394988McCain has absolutely stuffed Ante Post punters.
Had a small amount at the start of the year, and doesn’t really matter because Sprinter Sacre still wins.
The thing is however even up until the horses started drifting alarmingly, he has continually stated that he will be going to The Arkle to ‘take Sprinter Sacre on’ etc etc.
The fact someone has made a few quid from this info is just as sickening.
Puts Paul Nicholls and the Kauto Star scare into further perspective.
March 6, 2012 at 13:32 #394997Double Whammy for me.
Lost the Ante Post stake on The Mcain horse my missus fancied(I’m with Al Ferof) when the Paddy Power Sprinter Sacre money back special went online. And he’s knacked up the market for The Jewson where I’d had a longer standing ante post on Champion Court. I’m never backing ante post again there’s far to many unforseen circumstances and to many trainers fannying on where they are gonna be placing there "plan A " runners. PC started drifting wildly day after it was placed, a little more transparency please for gods sake!
Last time I had a ante post was on Benny the Dip in the Derby years ago on at 9/2, I should have learned from that loss.
March 6, 2012 at 15:51 #395011The strength of Al Ferof is amazing. 4.9 last night. Now there to lay at 3.7. Not seen a move as strong as this in a while.

Thanks. I still think CC is under-rated by many and could go off a decent price. I’d rather he didn’t make the running though – I think he’s better from behind off a fast pace. Maybe JT is bluffing them
March 6, 2012 at 17:48 #395028Yeah, there’s been very good money for Al Ferof the last day or two….noticed quite a few of his shortening quite a bit though too…..rock on ruby, kauto stone, pearl swan and a few others all shortened….wonder if the stable staff are putting their last few acca’s on….
Race looks to be setting up nicely now for Al Ferof to do what I’ve been saying for months……Cue Card and Sprinter Sacre to cut each others throats and set it up nicely for the horse that rattled past the pair of them on the same day last year!
March 6, 2012 at 17:58 #395030Thing is if there is a really fast pace, Sprinter Sacre will be held up.

If he doesn’t rip Barry’s arms off!

I doubt they would give the Jewson as a target if they needed 48 hours to decide his participation between one race and another, pending on a recovery. If the horse wasn’t ready to run in any race they would have held on until the last minute. I suspect they have changed their mind because they now realise that the horse maybe needs the trip.
March 6, 2012 at 18:24 #395038They’ve suddenly realised he needs a trip, a week before his original target, 2 years after he won the Neptune…
March 6, 2012 at 18:39 #395043I didn’t use the word ‘suddenly’, or say that they took the decision a week before the race. I obviously don’t know who took the decision, or when it was made. If they never started getting him over fences again until February, then some training might have been the deciding factor…. i dunno !
