This was held today, and won by last year’s winner, El Dorado. Only 2200 metres though. Videos of past races, including todays, can be found here:-

Just posting this in case me or someone else wants to look up a Singapore race video in the future.
November 8, 2009 at 22:10 #257978…Although I boycott French & Belgian trotting on principle….
Why have you singled out these two countries?
November 9, 2009 at 16:27 #258041I suppose Venusian because they were the ones that used to be shown in the bookies, before the advent of virtual racing and racing from South Africa. Have just realised that although there is virtual horseracing, and virtual greyhound racing, as far as I am aware there isn’t virtual harness racing. Do you want to start a campaign?

I’m virtually certain I don’t!
November 10, 2009 at 05:01 #258107Gosh, the favourite Monkey King came sprinting down the outside to win. I didn’t realise they had such animated finishes. There’s another big race at the end of November (Magic Millons?) so I think I’ll try to watch that as well. Found it impossible to distinguish between them, so next time I’ll pay more attention to the commentary.
edit: Miracle Mile, not Magic Millions. 29th Nov.
November 10, 2009 at 18:39 #258147Munsef isn’t running on Saturday, and instead is flying back to Britain on Wednesday evening. Perhaps the story about him being up for sale wasn’t true???
Won’t be able to do a rundown of the Sandown Classic tonight as I worked overtime, and am feeling a bit tired.
November 10, 2009 at 19:04 #258150Gerald, why is the New Zealand Trotting Cup so called when it’s for pacers?
Anyway, whatever the gait, 3 min 57.3 seconds is a fairly smart time for 3200m.
And the prize fund of 1 million NZ dollars is pretty impressive for a country of less than 4.5 million people.
November 10, 2009 at 19:08 #258151When I looked at the result, it had the prize money alongside. Actually came to 1,000,000.17 !
edit: Sorry Venusian, I was a bit slow on the uptake. I only realised when I was having a bath this morning that that time is quicker than they ran the Champion Hurdle in this year.
November 13, 2009 at 19:46 #258537When I tried to access the form via betfair I only got a blank page, and the racingandsports site seems to be down, so I’ve given up looking for form, although I’d probably find it all Greek at first glance anyway.
Race is 3.22am GMT , so I’ll just listen to it on Trackside Radio, and see if anything emerges that is relevant for the MC. My Scotsgrey won last weekend, and The Take has recent form at the distance, and those two seem to be the favourites. NZ racing doesn’t seem to be covered by the Australian media.
The other notable race is the 1000 Guineas at 4.42am, where last week’s 2000 Guineas winner Katie Lee is trying to double up. I think the appropriate phrase is Go Girl!
edit: Sorry, forgot to mention my first 2010 MC bet. £7 odd @ 100 Hume. Won’t be bothering to give a full list this time though, so won’t bother mentioning any others.
November 17, 2009 at 16:03 #259107Cloudy Start (Abdulla, Cecil) has been sold to race in Australia, but will run in Dubai first.
Doubt this one will be aimed at the Melbourne Cup though – it is by Oasis Dream.
Plenty of other good races to go for, though.
November 29, 2009 at 00:15 #261098Alcopop will have a Sydney campaign in the autumn, and will reappear on Feb 20th.
Not sure how much notice to take of the Autumn campaign, as several horses seem to just have a couple of runs to keep the wheels spinning and are then spelled until the big ones in the Spring.
PS, that big aussie 1 mile harness race is today.
edit: Miracle Mile is 5.40 GMT and Japan Cup is 6.20 GMT (I think), so its bedtime, and then an early start with 927 radio.
November 29, 2009 at 19:26 #261204The Miracle Mile was won by Kiwi raider Monkey King, who clocked a sensational 1 min 50.8 seconds, smashing the Australasian record by 1.1 seconds.
2 miles or 1 mile, it all comes alike to this fellow.
It was his 31st victory in his 65 race career.
November 29, 2009 at 19:39 #261206I woke up at 5.20, but fell asleep again.
Haven’t yet investigated how to watch videos of Aussie Harness races, but I intend to watch it sometime during the week.
December 4, 2009 at 19:11 #262118Federal Government report proposing that Japanese horses have 2 weeks’ quarantine in Japan and 3 weeks’ quarantine in Australia. Racing Victoria have 60 days to reply. They would like 2 weeks in each [or either???] country. New regimen will be decided in March.
January 1, 2010 at 10:01 #266827I thought I’d have a go at looking at what Godolphin[/color:11nb6c70] might send. I decided to concentrate on geldings (4yo+), so that immediately reduced it to 19.
Used the CD and CMPI parameters from Page 1 which reduces it to
112 Donativum
110 Asset
106 Age Of Reason
100 Jose Adan
100 Furnace
100 River Tiber
99 Sugar Ray
92 Night HourThey are nearly all sired by sprinters or milers!
Age Of Reason and Sugar Ray were both originally earmarked for the Spring Carnival last year, before Godolphin cut it to just Kirklees and Crime Scene.
There’s too many of them to add to the betfair market, or have a bet on, but at least we can keep an eye on how they progress during the Dubai Carnival.
Next step is to have a look at the Nips. Their winner from 3 years ago was a St Leger type, but I don’t know about their runner-up. I suppose that one problem is that whatever horse they send over will have to forego running in the Japan Cup.
January 1, 2010 at 16:43 #266934How about Once More Dubai or Peligroso, Gerald?
Know theyre not geldings but they could be the right types for the Cup.
I still think Saeed will send Crime Scene back for more.
January 1, 2010 at 20:08 #266955I’ just going on the Dosage and the Conduit Mare Profile figures, Halfway. You can sort out the form far better than me.
The figures apply to the past 16 winners, and all of them came within the CMP boundaries, and 14 I think, with excuses for the other two, within the Dosage boundary.
Once More Dubai has too much speed on both measurements.
Peligroso fits. -
