Mighty Marine was before my time, but I do remember Milton Bradley’s Grey Dolphin and Yangtse Kiang in the ’80s.

Ah, Yangste Kiang! Might as well throw in his peers Britannicus, Birsby, Corker, Kirkstyle, etc. All modest winning chasers of my callow youth, and for the greater part expert practitioners of the art of hibernation long before the advent of summer jumping.

July 14, 2010 at 08:34 #306289Lonesome Glory was a winner of one of the Sport of Kings challenge races, at Cheltenham in late 1992. That one was ridden by Blythe Miller for her father.
Ta, Rory – had it in the back of my mind somewhere that the US contingent had won at least one renewal with a female rider up, and that was it! Would also explain why the 2m4f hurdle referred to in late 1996 was named the Lonesome Glory Hurdle, presumably.
