Had WASHINGTON HEIGHTS in the Abernant, no reason to not back him again with York form in the book.
Clearly progressed over the winter, where is the ceiling? I’m willing to gamble at 9/1 that he hasn’t reached it yet.Smaller bet on SWINGALONG who looks a genuine group 1 horse in the making if not already there and thrives at the track. 7/1
May 14, 2024 at 20:01 #1694312I want to be against all the horses that ran prominently in the Abernant, a race / day where the tailwind probably gave prominent runners a big advantage. I’ve backed Mill Stream and Spycatcher both @ 8/1.
Value Is EverythingMay 14, 2024 at 20:18 #1694314I was drawn to Mill Stream
And swingalongVF x
May 14, 2024 at 20:30 #1694315They were advantaged in the Abernant being prominent but I think York’s sprint tracks are very kind to front runners too, more so the 5F to be fair but Washington Heights is far from inconvenienced coming back here where he was ahead of Mill Stream in the big 3yo handicap which tends to produce good horses, was getting some weight from Mill Stream granted but there was only 5lbs between them on ability according to the handicapper after that run. Saying that I’m one of these who has always adopted the if you weren’t at the wedding (Chivers was so fair play) you don’t attend the funeral.
I don’t know if I’ll have a play in this to be honest because the going is really important to a few of them and I’ll be at work by the time we know what it is or what the clerks saying it is at least, if it did come up softer then I’d be very keen on Montassib even though he’s a hold up, he just looks like a horse who when he gets his ground over 6F he’ll take a lot of stopping. There’s not a lot between any of them is there and its no easier than the 6F big field handicap before it. The sprint division really does feel like one of those where in graded and handicaps there is no best horse its just who fancies it on the day, who gets the luck of the draw, the best ride, the going etc
May 14, 2024 at 22:47 #1694323Always been a fan of Mill Stream and has Buick on board.

May 15, 2024 at 01:09 #1694327What a poor division this is
The sprint division badly needs a good crop of 3yos to come through and stay in training
This lot are listed/group 3 horses
You could run this race 15 times and have 15 different winners
Iv decided to leave the 5f/6f graded races alone for the time being after last seasons results
They’ve become a lottery, at least this time the market has recognised that and the shortest horse is 8.0+ on betfair
May 15, 2024 at 08:29 #1694331SPYCATCHER 8/1
Ran well on return and with Moore on board can win this race
May 15, 2024 at 10:48 #1694344I’ll try good old Art Power at 33-1 ew 4pl with a run under his belt.
May 15, 2024 at 11:40 #1694350My pin has landed on Washington Heights 11-1 ew 5 places

Added Shouldvebeenaring @ 20.
Value Is EverythingMay 15, 2024 at 12:29 #1694354If Art Power fires he wins…, but he’s run some below par races here though it was at York he first impressed me as a 2yo. Diligent Harry rated up with the best here and interesting at 12/1.
May 15, 2024 at 12:47 #1694356This is a good line up I thought, so I’ve taken two with Shouldvbeenaring at 18-1, and Fivethousandtoone at 20-1
May 15, 2024 at 14:56 #1694364Swingalong @11s & fivethousandtoone @25s
May 15, 2024 at 15:10 #1694367Switched to Spycatcher ew 4 places. Ground not as quick as i thought it was gonna be.
May 15, 2024 at 15:25 #1694369wd winners. Hope faller ok.
May 15, 2024 at 15:40 #1694373Cheers Mike.

May 15, 2024 at 16:44 #1694382Crikey that was grim viewing. What is going on at York today is it just bad luck or false ground?
