Backed nurture the other night at 40-1 Irish Stamp. Have also put some of my winnings on Blue Maiden 20-1 and Sent From Heaven at 40-1. Theres something i like about all 3 but aqree blue maiden looks the value bet in the race. Hard 2 see her not involved in the finish with a decent ride. Barry Hills brought 2 daughters of giants causeway here and they finished 2nd and 1st with solid support on the day. Thus his daughter of footstepsinthesand is interesting at such a big price.
I backed Mafki earlier in the week NRNB too so hoping we can land a double
May 2, 2010 at 12:01 #293519I’m even more convinced that Lady Darshaan will run a cracker, the conditions are in her favour, the danger would be Seta imo.
May 2, 2010 at 12:13 #293521Special Duty is the obvious place to start, and it’s a very good thing that she’s had a run. She’ll take all the beating, but she has stamina questions to answer and that’s a big worry. Even though Seta will be much, much better as a 3 – year old, she’s still under-priced on what she’s achieved so far. Pollenator could do really well here but it’s hard to know whether she’ll have made enough progress to keep the likes of Seta off. In all of this, the one horse that has been badly overlooked is MSUIC SHOW, who showed that she had trained on when winning the Nell Gwyn, giving 3lbs and a beating to Bleu Maiden, having come from way back. Her race – fitness could be crucial and she actually looks pretty good on the basis of her two runs, in a race where a lot of horses have questions over them. The other is RUMOUSH, who has won both her starts, has scope for progress,. Will be fit, and is bred for the job, so on that alone has more going for her than most.
May 2, 2010 at 12:35 #293525Bookmakers must be rubbing their hands yet again after the rain. Looked through the field and there is virtually no relevant soft ground form at all. Pipette has won on the soft but was also beaten in a relatively ordinary race with cut so in all likelihood she is no world-beater. I doubt very much that Seta really wants soft ground. Music Show definitely doesn’t want soft ground and in all probability the French filly is likely to struggle to get home on soft ground. Seems likely the race is going to be won by a horse least inconvenienced by the ground although it is complete guesswork as to which one.
May 2, 2010 at 13:01 #293529Devoted To You gets my vote. Loved the way she battled gamely against a 5yo the last day, ground has come right for her. Is she the next Peeping Fawn?

Haabayib @ 100s
Hibayeb @ 100s
Sent from Heaven @ 70s
Pollenator @ 20sMay 2, 2010 at 13:14 #293531A giants causeway followed home by 2 mr prospector line horses in the first. Its not gd-sft IMO. Perhaps this rain hasnt quite soaked in.

Seems to be good still. Think moonlife has a good chance on this ground in the next. Special duty drifting out to 5’s. Most people would’ve bitten your hands off for that earlier this year. Still think Blue Maiden though.

Its hard 2 say exactly what ground is, i reckon probably firm with a loose top surface. Thhink i’ll standby blue maiden also, along with nurture and sent from heaven. May add Habayib if this next race looks to be worse ground than the last.

got to be happy with that. Crowleys a class act. Still think the ground is firmer side of good so this race is wide open. Will give habayib a swerve.

Yeah – think he’s the best riding outside of the obvious (Lemaire and Moore) – very strong in a finish and now riding for a good yard too. Stand-side looks faster ground to me, Honimiere had no right getting that close to the Stoute filly.

Apparently the 12.45pm going stick was 8.2.
Frankie described it as good perfect ground.
That’s not what Ryan Moore reported after the Dahlia though and said his just got a little tired on the ground.
They’re getting their toe into the top. Of course there has been a solid base but I think the precipitation might be gradually percolating down into that such that conditions are becoming slightly more testing as the card progresses.

Liked the interview with Criquette head-marek, saying ground is no excuse. Seemed quietly confident, that she needed the run due to winter but they’d be no excuses today. Saying that the horse was going nuts in the parade ring.
May 2, 2010 at 14:22 #293547Assuming Sent From Heaven attempts to make it (quite such a stoutly bred individual on the head ought to ensure a true test) and given the softening ground, I am placing a slight emphasis on soft-ground sires and on stamina.
Seta – as someone mentioned, was going up and down on the spot in the May Hill and Pollenator has more stamina which told that day so, despite being by Pivotal, is passed over.
Pollenator – by Motivator so should relish conditions.
Pipette – the other Pivotal but I won’t be following the gamble as I’d have to take it’s class on trust.
Lady Darshaan – someone said it was thought to like fast going but it’s a High Chaparral. I think this is just the sort of ground the Sadlers Wells sires should like. She’s the one I take out of the fillies mile.
Gile Na Greine – a Galileo. Top end of the race’s stamina spectrum. I don’t think it’s gone quite so testing as to make me include this one. It’s 5th in the Moyglare doesn’t read that bad.
Distinctive – a Tobougg, so that Barathea line. Channon said his couldn’t go through the mud when Distinctive won the G3 at Ayr. Distinctive was only 6th in the Nell Gwyn but had no room and had to be switched. Having the same stamina numbers as Seta and likely to have it’s ground I don’t think Distinctive is a 160/1 chance.

Good for Henry.
May 2, 2010 at 14:27 #293549Initial impressions…put a line through the form.
Well done, Mr Cecil.
