I had a great winner, made a lot of money, and then this happens
to Envoi Allen. It matters more than any winner, it takes any gloss
off the day. I have to ask though, a race as tough as the Gold Cup
was it the right thing to ask Envoi at 12 years ? A horse that’s won
17 races, including 12 on the trot. I hate to say it, but this was
surely a race too far. He was well overdue his long and happy retirement.
