The two mile division, by far the best division in terms of a spectacle, has been dying for a while. Many things to blame, one of which is the lack of good flat horses giving it a go but the main issue is breeders being hell bent on churning out soft ground plodders. If I were ever lucky enough to make a fortune and get in the game as an owner, I’d only be interested in Champion Hurdles and Champion Chases. I’d leave the Gold Cup to the slower horses.
Back on topic, I’ll be backing Lossiemouth but not yet. I can see her being subjected to the dreaded Superboost curse come Tuesday morning.
