I’m coming round to the idea that The Hill should probably be aimed at the John Porter rather than the Ormonde (how great it would be though to see him on the Roodee and the buzz around that up in the North West).
I keep looking at Hamish as a role model of what can be achieved and he won both the John Porter & Ormonde.
O’Brien tends to target the Ormonde having won it 7 times now. He doesn’t take much interest in the John Porter.
Last season’s John Porter was won by a filly with an official rating of 100 who was subsequently easily beaten in 2 races including the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket. You would hope The Hill is better than that.
