For me with GW it all depends on how much energy he does or hopefully doesn’t waste early on in the race – considering just how hard he pulled in the Irish Gold Cup he had no right to stay on like he did after the last.
He won over 3m as a hurdler and over 3m1f at Aintree, so I think he will stay providing he settles, he has already massively outstayed his flat bred pedigree to begin with. The better the ground and the quicker the early pace is, it would help him settle better but if it is very soft they won’t go as fast and that could be an issue.
In the end they might just have to bite the bullet and drop him in right out the back to get him to settle first and foremost – if they can get that done, I for one wouldn’t be surprised if he turned the Irish Gold Cup form around with F2F, who I think is a lot more vunerable going that extra 2F.
