Agreed Landafar. I’ve taken advantage of both the visa free transit to a third country and been through the not too arduous but definitely time consuming and costly visa proces (one trip to London to apply, another to pick up).
I’d encourage anyone with the means to take advantage of the visa free travel whilst you can and see something of the place for yourself, make your own mind up.
Hong Kong and Taiwan are also magnificent places, wasn’t so enamoured with Macau but it’s an easy trip from HK, that bridge is quite something.
