An insurance policy, cant see anything wrong with it if its there to be taken.

That’s my opinion too, people are wanting to plot against the man for the whole Binocular debacle, but this seems rather innocent.

It is absolutely against the rules. I think the reasons people are " wanting to plot against him" as you put it , run deeper than the Binocular incident. In his drug trial Hendersons attitude and explanation were wholly unacceptable , more recently in the RCVS hearing on the same case it was revealed that Main and Henderson knowingly and regularly administered TA on raceday to bleeders , falsified the records and invoices using the term ‘pre race examination’ to deliberately hide the fact that they were breaking the rules. Given the new evidence brought about by this hearing , given that the RCVS found Hendersons testimony unplausable and given that the drug was undetectable before 2009 and Henderson said in his own words we didn’t know it was a DETECTOR if we did we wouldn’t have used it !! ….given that he has now had another horse test positive ( for anti inflammatory steroids found in ‘allergy medicine ) surely the original case against Henderson must be reopened ? The fact that he has brazenly broken yet another rule by backing his horses to lose and proclaiming it in a headline in the racing post , MIGHT just have got peoples backs up don’t you think?

I doubt there was any mal intent in this bet , however it is absolutely against the rules , of that there can be no question . It is the equivalent of a 42 horse lay accumulator and it matters not whether they were laid on an exchange or backed to lose with a bookmaker it’s ( yet another ) clear breach of the rules by the old Etonian. I have no doubt that Henderson did not want any of his horses beat , let alone all of them but it was a stupid bet to place PR wise and one he was not allowed to make .

On a similar but more serious note , I have long missed the postings of the Cheltenham Specialist , who has been absent from this forum for a very long time . Not only missing the Festival but the Open meeting and all Cheltenham in between. The last post I remember of his , he said he was shortly going into hospital and I’ve seen nothing since . I like to think that he tired of TRF and now posts elsewhere …..

Get in the game boys , train a few for yourself ,get them under handicapped , have it bang off – say a cool million or so , then repeat intermittently ….think you may find it’s just not quite that easy . Right side of the tracks or wrong side , it’s just not that easy . After all there are hundreds of trainers out there , many of whom have under handicapped horses ( for one reason or another ) yet there don’t seem to be all that many seven figure coups landed . Funnily enough this was just being discussed in another place. As I originally understood it , when it first came to my attention in the mid nineties ,the bounce factor was an American term. It refers to 5f and 6f sprinters ,due to their running style . Who after posting a lifetime best performance when coming back from a long lay off , almost always under performed next time out ( bounced ). The thinking at the time was that it didn’t affect middle or long distance runners who were mostly settled off the pace. There was a theory I think put forward by Nick Morden – possibly in Odds On magazine ? That due to the exertions involved and frantic pace , the same theory could be applied to 2m chasers . Nowadays the term seems to have lost all sense of it’s original meaning and simply covers a multitude of sins.

"Also I’ve not seen anyone be recruited by the RP from the internet, why? because their not worthy – people like Willougby and Pricewise are worth their wieght in gold as they have and will be around for years to come because they know what makes profit in the long run and people can trust their opinons."

Just out of interest does anyone know if anyone has ever been recruited from a forum or from the internet to tip for the racing post or any other major organisation?

I have never heard of any but surely some previously unknown somewhere has been offered employment off the back of a forum or emailing etc…

Zoso , weren’t you the colonel on the betfair forum?

It’s a funny race the Feltham , you really would have thought more winners of this race would have gone on to bigger and better things but to be honest none of them have , certainly no king George or gold cup horses that I can think of. Gloria Victus stands alone in the Feltham role of honour.

The handler was instructed to trot up a lame horse by the vets and was instructed by obrien not to , then told to report to the stewards but told by obrien not to go to the stewards but set off for home. He pleaded guilty to refusing to cooperate and quite rightly said that what he’d been instructed to do was insane. I’m surprised the arsepca haven’t stepped in and questioned this madness especially as the BHA have made such a public spectacle of it . Find me a trainer anywhere who would get a lame horse back out of the horsebox to "trot it up" for anyone , vet or not.

When they found foot and mouth in Ireland and Aiden annonced that ISTABRAQ wouldn’t be running even if Cheltenham was on. I think he was 4/11 at the time to win his fourth champion hurdle , I was gutted for the horse but watching him fall twice at the same flight probably upset me as much as anything else in racing. How heartwarming to hear the cheer he got when Charlie pulled him up on his last run at Cheltenham

No max you don’t pay 57% of prizemoney that would be about £40+ million. What you need to ask yourself is why you claim you do. Do you shout about how your money pays the ladbrokes staff national insurance contributions ? Because it does ,your money pays their employers tax , your money buys the toilet cleaner they use in ALL their shops etc etc etc etc . But none of that is quite so honourable as paying 57% of prizemoney is it . Fact of the matter is if you place a bet and you lose that’s just not your money any more

So what’s with the eggheads comment? The punters don’t pay the levy they are gambling for their own personal gain …which is fair enough but why is it the punters who pay the levy ? In what other walk of life are you claiming ownership of money you’ve already spent .do supermarket shoppers say we are paying the shopstaffs wages or the companies corporate taxes? Every time you go for a pint you’re paying their bills.every single business that pays a bill is paying it with their "customers" money , money they chose to spend in whichever way they choose. Gamblers are the epitomy of self interest and greed – and I’m fine with that but don’t claim you’re the champions of the sport selflessly providing the funding . How many betfair layers on here are sending in a voluntary levy payment in their eagerness to fund the sport they love?

In answer to the original point Cormack , people are running their horses for poor prizemoney ….because thats all there is ! We cant just keep them in training without running until there is decent money on offer. So long as the races are oversubscribed as they often are then the racecourses have no incentive to offer more money. Someone said what is a suitable amount of prizemoney … How about as a minimum the amount the levy board provide the racecourse with per race ? As i understand it levy funded meetings get £4000+ per race , its the racecourses who get to decide how much they put up. I dont see why people are so keen to claim ownership of their money after they have spent it , the whole robin good scenario is bewildering to me. Why do punters always claim they are paying the levy when they are simply gambling out of self interest? Its akin to walking around tescos claiming you are paying tescos corporate taxes. Spend your money and its gone , dont try and claim you are the one thats funding the industry, never so keen to claim youre paying the wages of the counter staff in the bookies ….!

Fortunately , pretty much everyone who goes to Burghley is there for the horses, unfortunately the same cannot be said about racecourses on Saturdays .

TRF seems to be quite a spiteful forum. I’m still finding my feet here but so much of the abuse seems , well unnecessary.

Yes zenjah , life is all about where you draw the line I suppose . Running a horse you know to be lame makes my blood boil ,whereas watching hound and hare hit top speed takes my breath away. The hound is fast because it’s a predator , the hare is fast because it’s prey. I understand that my views on poultry are the opposite of those of the masses- when I see 6000 chickens in a broiler house feeding whilst sat in their own excrement ready for slaughter at the ripe old age of 45 DAYS , supermarket chicken , I despair . When I see two birds who have lived the life of Riley for 18 months and have a driven instinct to overcome adversity and fight to the death , kill or be killed , I am filled with wonder. Anyway , that Sir Mark Prescott is a canny trainer don’t you think , how far does anyone think HOORAY will get next year ? Which of his 2yos look like being interesting 3yos ?

…….disgusting? Aftertiming ….. Have I breached some unwritten rule of etiquette bigbucks ? I assumed aftertiming was claiming to have backed a horse after it ran , without having posted before it ran. when they are fifteen year old nurseries won by a horse I douBt anyone can remember , its just reminiscence . The fact that warming trends ( who never won another race ) is my chosen user name MIGHT lead you to think that the story is true. If it is not the done thing to talk about gambles landed in years gone by , then I will certainly refrain from doing so again. Disgusting is a bit strong I feel. In danger of adding ‘off topicing’ to my list of crimes I might add that as this country produces 20million egg laying pullets a year ( 40% of which are free range ) the same number of day old cockerels are gassed.

……..Alan Berry – running a lame horse ….. Micky Quinn starving horses and serving out his ban on ladcrooks tv…. and so it goes and do it goes. Glenn , keep swiping , it’s an absolute pleasure to read your threads sir ! I hold no hope of cheats being caught any quicker than the current rate of one per blue moon , but whether you’re of the view that punters are the "lifeblood of racing" or owners , surely we can all agree that the horses are the be all and end all. Horse cruelty makes my blood boil ,warning off seems to mean nothing.
