Seems like Setanta will be saved going from reports last night. A mystery buyer has suddenly appeared and is ready to step in and save them.
I will take anything above 4/5 on it being Rchard Branson. Expect the names to be changed also.
Setanta 1: Virgin Sports 1
Setanta 2: Virgin Sports 2
Setanta Golf: Virgin Golf
Setanta News: Vrgin Sports News
Setanta Ireland: Virgin IrelandGood luck to him, if anyone can save them, he stands best chance.
The BBC do not care abour Racing, i frankly do not care about the BBC. They are a utter joke. You only have to look who they have on as "experts"…
John Parrot…I realise this man likes a bet like any of us, but is he seriously the best that can be put on to read out the prices.
Rishi Persad…I used to like this bloke, but the BBC seem to have told him to play the "clown". His stupid interviews are a insult, half the trainers don’t even want to speak to him.
Willie Carson…Ive never liked this bloke, he talks alot of ……. and is a ignorant and rude man.
Only saving grace for the BBC is the great Clare Balding, but sadly even she can not save the sinking ship.
The coverage of the actual racing meeting is a joke, 2-3 minutes before the off they start talking about the race, constant fashion talk is enough to make me sick. And that other clown they have to mix with the crowd on race days. All in all the usual BBC coverage you get.
But oh wait the best is still to come, one name…….JIM MCGRATH. Is this guy on another planet when calling the races home. Are his pictures on delay?
How often does he call the wrong horses, how often does he not mention a horse flying home till it’s about 10 yards from winning line. How often does he fail to notice a major incident in a race, how often does he not notice a horse falling till a fence or two later when someone tells him. This guy does my nut in, he is seriously one of the worse race callers ever.
Rant over.
Sadly not Gray. This was never a horse to back at odds on. All though horse seems to have found a another spring since going Hunter chasing. I still think this old timer can win one of those races round the National fences at Aintree. Sadly not the National itself no more.
RUK will be fine. I always enjoy Setanta for the Boxing & Football. But i got Setanta for RUK, and it was free in the package so was great value. But just like the ESPN channels in the Setanta package, RUK is not connected with Setanta apart from being in the package.
So RUK will carry on as normal when Setanta go into Admin.
I will happily pay £9.99 a month for it, but anything above that is going to put people off, all though whatever they charge i will pay as i need RUK.
What would be best if RUK do a deal with SKY to put it into the SKY package, this meaning no charge at all, and more viewers. The charge through the RUK site is like a racing club, so hardcore fans will still take that route if they want, but for average fan, if it was free in the SKY package, then it would attract more new fans to the sport.
I would happily put up with few adverts also.
Take The Stand
Ive followed this horse for last 4-5 years, had many of great days following/backing the horse, and a awful lot of bad day.
One thing i loved about this horse, you was never guarunteed a easy win. Even when i thought it was a banker bet that day, the horses iffy jumping always meant you would have to watch it from behind the sofa.
I was always certain the horse liked the softer ground ovet the firm ground the "experts" thought. As on the slower ground it’s jumping was alore more safe, it always found it too quick when trying to jump on firm ground and was error prone every race.
I always thought it was good enough to win a Gold Cup, i kept telling everyone it was good enough, the horse had so much talent, but the jumping errors cost it a few races. 2005 was horses year for me, i was certain it would win the Gold Cup, it looked a weak race. I had a decent few quid on it at odds around 33/1-50/1, the race went perfect, and the horse jumped fooot perfect, 3/4 out i was certain it was going to win, but the great Kicking King was just too good for it. Absolutely gutted i was.
This horse was defo a National horse, was going sweetly when fell one year, it seemed to jump the national fences in superb style, but as soon as it had one error, it took a tumble. Very unlucky and always certain to this day, if it had got round nothing would have beaten this horse. It stays all day, but has that touch of class also.
I remember missing this horse once & only once. It was at Uttoxeter back in 04. It was on a Sunday, and i remember in The Sun saturday racing pull out, i checked it out and had the ground down as Soft/Heavy. Was top weight and over 4 mile+. I thought no way this horse can win with that weight and on that ground. I noticed it was 33/1, and thought might be prep run for future, so left it.
Had BBC text on, and watched the horse come from 33/1 into 16/1, and i just knew it was going to win. As result came through i actually cried, i have never been so gutted in my life. Only time i missed the horse, and it was the horses biggest S/P win. I refused to miss it again, and up until last year it had only won like two times in twenty + runs!
Be a shame when this horse is retired. It’s why National hunt racing is more for the average man than the flat. You get to follow these horses for 5+ years. In the end you almost feel like you own half the horse.
Amazing……..
