I was at Ayr yesterday through business and was 100% certain Surrey Quest had got up. I was gutted when the result was called as I’d tipped Surrey Quest to my colleagues. I couldn’t believe he was 40-1 in the morning. For a few short minutes I was a tipping master. I’d tipped the same guys Scottie Scheffler to win the masters last week (tbh wasn’t the most difficult bet to find. He was red hot favourite and head and shoulders the best golfer in the world just now. 11/2 was short but still value). Also followed you in on Hamish. I’m a novice at the horse racing, however I love it if after studying a race and making a tissue I log on here to find you’ve put up the same horse as I’ve selected :)

Wow! I’ve been too busy looking at the masters golf to look over the national yet. That is a sensational preview GT and will be most helpful when I’m trying to give a selection to the once a year punters in my friends and family group. Thank you :good:

Makes sense GT. Great write up on Montassib. Maybe he was a little flattered with how the race unfolded. I’ll be watching where he’s placed next.

    Well done with Heltenham.

I’m not sure it’d take much liquidity to cause the market move on Friday. It may even have been exaggerated by you putting the selection on here. I no longer bet the night before as I was quickly restricted by two online bookmakers when it became clear I was regularly beating SP by a significant margin. You make a good point on the jockey booking :good:

Incidentally, I thought Montassib was very impressive in the 3.00. Real powerful finish to put the race to bed. :good:

I hear you GT. I think with Skelton though the market is very important. At the festival his two handicap winners were massive plot horses. I’ve taken a note to check the market before backing any of his runners.

Ran as the market drift suggested. Was never really put into the race. Winner won well……again as the market suggested. Someone somewhere knew!

Thanks GT. I have the same issues with my other half :). It takes a few hours to go over stats and odds for every golf tournament so my better half is often left alone watching tv on a Monday night. A few winners help though.
I do dabble in the horses and also use Timeform. There’s not a better feeling than pricing up an event and seeing something priced up wrongly (in your opinion) by the bookies. Although, it then requires another look over to see what’s I’ve missed.
I understand the multiple selections and changes this week with the going. It’s all about getting value in the long term.
Anyway apologies for messing up your thread and keep the selections coming 👍

Hi GT. I forgot I had created a profile on this site, however, just popped on to say I’ve loved your Cheltenham posts this week. I mostly bet on golf and sometimes dabble in horse racing. I use similar methods to you-i.e make my own tissue and then back what I perceive as value and happy to Dutch bets. On a number of occasions this week, my value bets have aligned with yours and this gave me confidence to stake my bets.
Anyway I’ve rumbled on a bit. Hope you keep posting selections as I love checking my selections against yours. It reinforces my position when our thoughts align.
    Good luck!
