I haven’t posted on this, or any other forum for a very long time, but I was very sad to hear of the passing of Bob Rolf. When my own forum shut down many years ago, I didn’t stay in touch with the vast majority of the members, but my brother was friends with Bob Rolf on Facebook, and very occasionally I would check on Bob’s page to see how he was doing.
I don’t know how this happened, but I hadn’t looked at Bob’s Facebook page in about a year, when I suddenly decided it was time I did, I was looking at all the silly jokes he had posted on there and having a good laugh at many of them, but it turns out that that was the day he died, how strange is that?
I used to love Bob’s 4PP competition, and I was always amazed at how he maintained his enthusiasm for it all, having had some idea myself about how much work was involved in scoring such a competition.
I did meet Bob once, that was when a few Final Furlong members organised a trip to Hove Dogs, and what with that being Bob’s local track, he and at least one of his friends came along.
What else can I say? One of the really sad things about being on a forum is seeing people you regard as friends pass on, and I can think of a long list of names, a list that Bob Rolf has now sadly joined.Rest in Peace Bob
Just having a look round, it’s been a few weeks since I last posted on here.
I see the petition currently stands at 85,473 signatures, be interesting to see if that number goes up significantly this weekend.A big thank you to Bob for organising and running this competition for so long, and also to The Racing Forum for their generous sponsorship.
